Surgical stapling instruments including a cartridge having multiple staple sizes

A surgical stapling apparatus includes a staple cartridge and an anvil member. The staple cartridge includes a plurality of surgical fasteners disposed in rows of retention slots. The staple cartridge may have an annular or linear configuration of retention slots. The tissue contacting surface of the staple cartridge may be tapered or stepped. The anvil member has a tissue contacting surface that includes a number of pockets arranged for substantially aligning with the retention slots. In addition, the tissue contacting surface of the anvil member may complement the tissue contacting surface of the staple cartridge.

Process for recycling fiber material and binder with novel injection mold and parts made thereby

A process of recycling fibrous materials, specifically carpet and diaper remnants, or high melting polymers, specifically PET, by using low melting polymers, i.e. agricultural film and other products made from polypropylene and polyethylene, to create parts of high compressive strength. The carpet, fibrous materials, or PET and low melting polymers are ground separately and then blended in a predetermined ratio. The blend is then sent through a pellet mill and then heated until the low melt polymer is melted, or approximately 450° F. The melted mixture is then injected into a partially opened cavity mold, which is then closed without allowing the excess material to escape. Closing the mold increases the internal pressure on the molten material. The cavity mold is then rapidly cooled.

Method and apparatus for power outlet and plug having low-insertion-force connector

In some embodiments, the present invention provides an independently tightening collet surrounding each socket for each of a plurality of corresponding high-electrical-power prongs, wherein the collet is loosened for normal (low-insertion-force) insertion and withdrawal of the plug from the outlet. Once the plug is inserted, the collet is tightened, providing a high-contact force to lower the contact resistance and to help keep the plug from coming unplugged. In some embodiments, the plug is not “locked”, in that a tension force pulling on the plug will overcome the contact force at a point before the plug or outlet is damaged, and the plug is allowed to come unplugged. In some embodiments, engaging the collet will also provide a wiping or sliding motion between the prong and socket for each connection, thus wiping at least some dirt or corrosion away and providing a lower-resistance better electrical contact.

Device for the detection of an actuation force of a brake pedal, and brake system

The invention relates to a device for the detection of an actuation force of a brake pedal, comprising a force take-up element coupled to the brake pedal, and a force-transmitting element which is coupled to a brake system and is movable relative to the force take-up element, a sensor device being provided between the force take-up element and the force-transmitting element for the detection of at least one parameter characterizing the actuation force. In the case of this device, provision is made, for the purpose of compact design, whereby the force take-up element and the force-transmitting element are telescopically displaceable relative to one another, and whereby the sensor device is encased by the force take-up element and the force-transmitting element.

Articles of Apparel Providing Enhanced Body Position Feedback

Articles of apparel include: (a) a garment structure having one or more fabric elements structured and arranged to provide a close fit to at least one predetermined portion of a body (e.g., area(s) of the body for which enhanced position sensing and / or feedback are desired, such as the lower back, the arch of the foot, etc.); and (b) a body position feedback system engaged with or integrally formed as part of the garment structure. The body position feedback system may apply higher tensile or constricting forces to selected portions of the wearer's body, which can help stimulate or interact with nerves and deep tissue receptors located in various portions of the body. The increased forces at selected locations of the body give the wearer sensory feedback regarding the position or orientation of these parts of the body and can improve or accelerate development of “muscle memory.”

Valve for a Subsea Pressure Canister

A valve for a subsea pressure canister for controlling a fluid flow includes a valve body having a passage extending in a longitudinal direction. At an inner surface of the passage, a valve seat, a sealing section, and a threaded section are formed. A stem is arranged within the passage and movable in the longitudinal direction between a closed position and an open position. The stem includes a valve member to provide a sealing between the valve seat and the valve member in the closed position. A seal is arranged between an outer circumferential surface of the stem and the sealing section. An actuator device includes a threaded section engaged with the threaded section of the passage. The actuator device includes a coupling element for coupling the actuator device to the stem to urge the stem in the longitudinal direction upon the longitudinal movement of the actuator device.
