Methods and apparatus for a wide area coordinated surveillance system

A coordinated surveillance system uses a larger number of fixed low resolution detection smart camera devices and a smaller number of pan / tilt / zoom controllable high resolution tracking smart camera devices. The set of detection cameras provide overall continuous coverage of the surveillance region, while the tracking cameras provide localized high resolution on demand. Each monitor camera device performs initial detection and determines approximate GPS location of a moving target in its field of view. A control system coordinates detection and tracking camera operation. A selected tracking camera is controlled to focus in on, confirm detection, and track a target. Based on a verified detection, a guard station is alerted and compressed camera video is forwarded to the guard station from the camera(s). The guard station can direct a patrol guard to the target using GPS coordinates and a site map. Redundancy is provided by using multiple control units, each able to handle the full load in the event of failure. Camera devices vote on the status of the control units. A failed detection camera device can be temporarily replaced by a tracking camera device in a back-up mode of operation thus maintaining full overall basic coverage of the surveillance region.

Method for employing an extendible stent apparatus

InactiveUS6962602B2Full coverageFacilitate future treatmentStentsEar treatmentBlood vesselOstium
An imageable extendable stent apparatus for insertion into a bifurcating vessel or a vessel opening. The stent apparatus comprises a main stent and a flared stent, which may used individually or in combination with each other. The flared stent may be interlocked with the main stent to provide stent coverage over the entire region of a bifurcation. The main stent of the apparatus may be deployed at the bifurcation point of a vessel, allowing unimpeded future access to the side branch of the bifurcated vessel. The flared stent may be employed at vessel openings. Also disclosed and claimed are methods for implanting the extendable stent apparatus into the bifurcation point or the ostium of a subject vessel.

Extendible stent apparatus

The present invention concerns novel stent apparatuses for use in treating lesions at or near the bifurcation point in bifurcated cardiac, coronary, renal, peripheral vascular, gastrointestinal, pulmonary, urinary and neurovascular vessels and brain vessels. More particularly, the invention concerns a stent apparatus with at least one side opening which may further comprise an extendable stent portion laterally extending from the side opening and at least partly in registry with the wall of the side opening. Devices constructed in accordance with the invention include, singularly or in combination, a main expandable stent comprising at least one substantially circular side opening located between its proximal and distal end openings, which side opening may further comprise an expandable portion extending radially outward from the edges of the side opening; and a branch stent comprising proximal and distal end openings and which may further comprise a contacting portion at its proximal end, and which may optionally be constructed to form either a perpendicular branch or a non-perpendicular branch when inserted through a side opening of the main stent. The stents of the invention are marked with, or at least partially constructed of, a material which is imageable during intraluminal catheterization techniques, most preferably but not limited to ultrasound and x-ray.

Automatic microblog text abstracting method based on unsupervised key bigram extraction

The invention discloses an automatic microblog text abstracting method based on unsupervised key binary word extraction. The automatic microblog text abstracting method comprises the steps of preprocessing a microblog; standardizing a binary word; extracting a key binary word based on a mixed TF-IDF (term frequency-inverse document frequency), TexRank and an LDA (local data area); sequencing sentences based on the intersection similarity and a mutual information strategy; extracting abstract sentences based on a similarity threshold value; generating abstract by reasonably combining the abstract sentences. According to the automatic microblog text abstracting method, the binary word is used as a minimum vocabulary unit, and the binary word has richer text information than words, so that the sentences based on the key binary word is higher in noise immunity and accuracy than the sentences based on key word extraction; meanwhile, when the abstract sentences are extracted, the similarity threshold value is introduced to control redundancy, so that the abstract is higher in recall rate. The abstract generated by the method is accurate, simple and comprehensive; the efficiency and the quality that a user acquires knowledge are obviously improved, and the time of the user is greatly saved.

Catheter with attached flexible side sheath

A method of positioning a main stent at a vessel bifurcation such that a side opening in the main stent is positioned at the ostium of a branch vessel, comprising: positioning a main guidewire in the main vessel such that a distal end of the main guidewire extends past the bifurcation; advancing a stent delivery system to a position proximate the bifurcation, the stent delivery system comprising a catheter with a flexible side sheath attached thereto, wherein the catheter is received over the main guidewire, and wherein the main stent is positioned over the catheter with the flexible side sheath positioned to pass through the interior of the main stent and out of the side opening in the main stent; advancing a branch guidewire through the flexible side sheath attached to the catheter and into the branch vessel; and subsequently, advancing the catheter over the main guidewire while advancing the flexible side sheath over the branch guidewire while viewing relative movement of a marker positioned on the flexible side sheath with respect to at least one marker positioned on the catheter, wherein the relative movement indicates that a portion of the flexible side sheath adjacent the side opening in the main stent is advancing into the ostium of the branch vessel, thereby indicating the position of the side opening of the main stent with respect to the ostium of the branch vessel.

Non-contact measurement system for large airfoils

A non-contact measurement system employing a non-contact optical sensor and an edge detection sensor with a positioning system for moving the sensors over the surface and edges of a part (A) held in a predetermined, fixed position. The part is aligned in a co-ordinate system for obtaining accurate measurements of the part's surface (S) and edges (E). For parts smaller than the optical sensor's field of view, the part is rotated about an axis so both sides of the part are viewed by the sensor. If required, the part can also be shifted linearly along a horizontal axis (X) parallel to the sensor. For parts larger in size than the sensor's field of view, the part is moved along a vertical axis (Y) in predetermined segments so all of the part is exposed to viewing by the sensor.
