Advantageously two stents are overlapped. The joining portions of the first and second members can have the same diameter.

Tunable optical source

A tunable optical source comprises a laser diode and an external optical feedback device. The feedback device has a waveguiding portion fabricated at least in part out of a glass material having both organic and inorganic components. A control device is provided for controlling the refractive index of the glass material so as to change the wavelength of feedback to the laser diode. The glass material may for example have thermo-optic properties and the control device might then be a heating device for heating the glass material. The feedback device can have more than one portion, a second portion for example having controllable coupling characteristics for coupling optical radiation into or out of the feedback device. It also preferably has a portion for controlling optical path length in the feedback device.

The meter modules monitor, store, encode and periodically transmit metering data via radio signals (air messages) in an appropriate RF channel. Metering data air messages are collected by a network of receiver Base Stations (BS) and forwarded to a Data Operations Center (DOC), which acts as a metering data gateway. The reception range of each base station is typically over 5 miles in urban areas, allowing sparse infrastructure deployment for a wide variety of metering data collection applications.

Color-based neurofeedback

A neurofeedback technique uses color as its feedback cue. A preferred embodiment of the invention includes an amplifier that receives EEG signals from electrodes (e.g., adhesive electrodes, SQUID sensors, etc.) on or adjacent the person's scalp, a low or band pass filter, a color processor and a display. The color processor converts an aspect of one or more channels of the person's EEG signal(s) to a color and shows that color to the person on the display. The aspect of the EEG that is converted to color can be the frequency or the amplitude of the person's EEG signal(s). If EEG amplitude is used in the conversion process, the instantaneous, average or peak amplitude can be used. This process is dynamic, meaning that the system repeatedly converts the EEG signal to color. Conventional adhesive electrodes or non-adhesive sensors can be used to detect the person's brain activity.

Method and apparatus for elimination of duplexers in transmit/receive phased array antennas

The replacement and elimination of duplexers in a tightly coupled dipole phased array starts with transmit and receive functions physically separated and having different antenna port feeds. The simple coupling network used with tightly coupled dipole arrays is replaced by a state switch which alternates between a coupling state and a dipole feed connection state. The basic method can be applied to antenna apertures of various kinds, including both linear and dual polarized versions. The ability to locate state switches at various nodes in tightly coupled dipole phased arrays permits flexibility in antenna design and eliminates bulky and lossy components, simplifies the design requirements and allows independent optimization of the components.

An ear-plug alarm comprises a base station which sets the time, and ear-piece which provides autonomous timing and alarm functions after it is disconnected from the base station. Each ear-piece stores its own alarm setting, and operates autonomously after it is disconnected, so that a single base station can support any number of ear-pieces.
