Acoustic control system for electronic musical instrument

An acoustic control system for an electronic musical instrument, which can obtain optimal acoustic characteristics irrespective of whether or not a low range speaker is attached to a body thereof. A piano body has high range and mid range speakers. A low range speaker is removable from the body. A stand-excluding switch designates a first speaker-use mode for using the high range and mid range speakers alone, and a stand-including switch designates a both speaker-use mode for using both the high range and mid range speakers and the low range speaker. A ROM stores stand-excluding and stand-including factors for setting acoustic characteristics in the two modes, respectively. A CPU reads one of the factors, which corresponds to the mode designated by the stand-excluding or stand-including switch. A tone generator circuit generates a musical tone signal to be reproduced in one of the modes, based on the read factor.

System and method for optimizing the utilization of space

A system and method for providing a service allowing a user looking for an available space to access a secure network and specify parameters defining the user's requirements for the available space, while allowing other users to broadcast space information regarding spaces they are about to depart from, where space is a three-dimensional volume or position that can be occupied or vacated. Users communicate with the secure network which is comprised of dedicated and / or external data sources and servers, using electronic devices to retrieve and broadcast real-time and future space information so that users may conduct space exchanges either by paying and receiving set amounts for an available parking space or by bidding on an available parking space. Users can also rate the space exchange according to whether or not they were satisfied or dissatisfied with the transaction.

Integrated volume control and switch assembly

An integral volume control and switch assembly comprising a resilient conductive member serving for switching between a first and second switch state and a resilient tactile member serving for providing a user with a tactile feedback upon change of switch state. The resilient tactile member and the resilient conductive member are formed by separate members. Hereby the assembly can be further miniaturised without the resilient tactile member and the resilient conductive member being too small to handle in a manufacturing process. In addition, it is possible to adjust angular position of the rotatable member where switch function and tactile feedback occurs. Preferably the resilient tactile member and the resilient conductive member are spatially separated along a rotational axis of the rotatable member. The assembly according to the invention is suitable for hearing aids.

Radiation redirecting external case for portable communication device and antenna embedded in battery of portable communication device

An advanced antenna or set of antennae for a wireless device is provided by embedding the antennae into the battery case or generally the largest surface area of a wireless phone. The antenna connections are made through the battery's connections to the wireless device. The antenna design can be compact and located in any area of the battery. The antenna design can be thin and flat, located at the back surface of the battery or the large rear surface of a wireless phone, facing away from the user. An RF shielding device can be embedded into the battery and configured in relation to the antenna such that the RF field intensity and the consequent specific absorption rate for the user is lowered while the outgoing signals of the wireless device remain fully adequate for the function of the wireless device. This feature is preserved for a multi-band operation because a digital phase shifter is used between two radiating antennae. An external case is used as a complement to the wireless phone to provide additional antennae, power and capability.

Centrifugal separator having a rotor and driving means thereof

In a centrifugal separator, the rotor of which is adapted to be driven by means of a gaseous driving fluid, the rotor itself supports a ring of turbine blades extending around the rotational axis of the rotor. A stationary nozzle is adapted to direct a flow of the driving fluid towards the ring of turbine members. After the driving fluid has passed between the turbine blades and has influenced them for driving of the centrifugal rotor, it enters a reversing chamber formed by a stationary reversing member. In the reversing chamber the driving fluid is caused to change its direction and is then conducted again towards the ring of turbine members in order to be utilized a second time for driving of the centrifugal rotor.

3-coil wireless power transfer system for eye implants

A three-coil electromagnetic induction power transfer system is disclosed for epiretinal prostheses and other implants. A third, buffer coil is disposed between an external transmitting coil and a receiver coil buried within the body to improve efficiency and robustness to misalignments. One or more of the coils can be manufactured using micromechanical machining techniques to lay out conductors in a ribbon of biocompatible insulator, folding lengths of the insulated conductor traces longitudinally over one another, and then spiraling them into a ring. The traces change axial position in the ring by shifting across fold lines. One or more U-shaped sections on the traces can be folded so that adjacent traces can project opposite one another, lengthening the resulting ribbon that can be wound into a coil.

Aircraft passenger chair

An aircraft passenger chair has a support frame, a seat and a backrest. A position adjustment mechanism is coupled between the frame and the backrest by a unidirectional force transmission to permit tilting the backrest clockwise forward into a parking position while simultaneously shifting the seat backward independently of the position adjustment mechanism to increase the space between two rows of seats. Operating the position adjustment mechanism tilts the backrest counterclockwise from an upright position into a rest position and returns the backrest into its upright position. Bringing the backrest into the parking position and shifting the seat simultaneously backward is independent of tilting the backrest into a rest position. Similarly returning the backrest and the seat into the respective normal position is also independent of returning the backrest from the rest position into the normal position.
