65 results about "Out-of-band data" patented technology

In computer networking, out-of-band data is the data transferred through a stream that is independent from the main in-band data stream. An out-of-band data mechanism provides a conceptually independent channel, which allows any data sent via that mechanism to be kept separate from in-band data.

System and method for incrementally backing up out-of-band data

Systems and methods are provided for backing up out-of-band storage. A protection policy is activated for out-of-band storage at a remote host, wherein the out-of-band storage is not physically accessible by the computing device, such that the out-of-band storage is not in communication with the remote host through the computing device. A backup request is transmitted to the remote host comprising data indicative of a volume on the out-of-band storage to back up according to the protection policy. A response to the backup request is received comprising staging disk requirements for the volume, the staging disk requirements comprising a required size for a staging disk to back up the volume. A staging disk is determined based on the response. The staging disk is presented to the remote host. A backup result is received comprising data indicative of whether a backup of the volume to the staging disk succeeded.

Device and method for determining characteristics of a digital subscriber line

A method for determining the suitability of a copper line, used for transmitting voice band signals and having one or more user devices coupled thereto for transmitting signals on the copper line, for use in transmitting data signals out-of-band with the voice band signals is provided. The method includes applying a test signal at one point in the copper line. The test signal has a known relationship to a particular out-of-band data transmission scheme. A response of the copper line to the test signal is monitored, as influenced by the one or more user devices. The monitoring takes place at about the point where the test signal was applied. The suitability of the copper line for data transmission using the particular out-of-band data transmission scheme is determined based on the monitored response of the copper line. A method for determining the suitability of a communication line for transmitting data using an out-of-band data transmission protocol is provided. The communication line has a plurality of user devices attached thereto, and the method includes providing a test signal on the communication line having a known relationship to the out-of-band data transmission protocol; monitoring a response of the communication line to the test signal as influenced by the user devices; determining the suitability of the communication line for use in transmitting data signals using the particular out-of-band data transmission protocol based on the response; disconnecting at least one of the user devices from the communication line; and repeating the providing, monitoring, and determining steps to determine if the at least one user device disconnected from the communication line is an interfering device.

Methods and devices for transmitting and receiving using state information of buffer of data message

The invention discloses a method for transmitting the using state information of a buffer of a data message. The method is implemented on an interface board side and comprises the following steps of: coding a state value which is output by the buffer of the data message; constructing a serial flow control message format, wherein the serial flow control message format comprises a clock synchronization domain, a check information domain and a state domain which corresponds to each physical interface; detecting the using state, which corresponds to each physical interface, of the buffer to obtain all coded state values of the using state of the buffer; filling the coded state values into the state domains of the corresponding physical interfaces; filling clock synchronization information into the clock synchronization domain, and filling check information into the check information domain to form i serial flow control messages; and when a clock cycle signal is effective and a clock synchronization signal is effective, synchronously transmitting the i serial flow control messages to a processing plate through i pieces of out-of-band data. The invention discloses methods and devices for transmitting and receiving the using state information of the buffer of the data message. By the invention, the transfer efficiency of message flow control information can be improved, message time delay is reduced, and the capacity of the buffer is reduced.

The invention discloses a networking method and device for a data communication network. The method comprises the steps that at least one sub-network node is selected as a sub-network gateway network element from an access sub-ring formed by hanging connection of two convergence nodes; an Ethernet port of a main control panel of the sub-network gateway network element is connected with an Ethernet port of a business veneer of the sub-network gateway network element; an Ethernet port of a business veneer of the convergence nodes is connected with an interchanger having access to a data communication network. Due to the adoption of the technical scheme, because the at least one sub-network node is selected as the sub-network gateway network element from the access sub-ring formed by the hanging connection of the two convergence nodes, the processing pressure of a gateway network element of a convergence layer is scattered to gateway network elements of different access sub-rings, the number of processed network elements does not surpass the limitation of equipment, and even through the number of network expansion elements increases continuously, the defects that the processing capability of the gateway network elements is weak can also be effectively overcome.
