Eye tracking head mounted display

A head mounted display device has a mount which attaches the device to a user's head, a beam-splitter attached to the mount with movement devices, an image projector which projects images onto the beam-splitter, an eye-tracker which tracks a user's eye's gaze, and one or more processors. The device uses the eye tracker and movement devices, along with an optional head-tracker, to move the beam-splitter about the center of the eye's rotation, keeping the beam-splitter in the eye's direct line-of-sight. The user simultaneously views the image and the environment behind the image. A second beam-splitter, eye-tracker, and projector can be used on the user's other eye to create a stereoptic, virtual environment. The display can correspond to the resolving power of the human eye. The invention presets a high-resolution image wherever the user looks.

Trailer mounted mobile apparatus for dewatering and recovering formation sand

An apparatus for removing formation sand from an oil storage tank. The apparatus is mounted to a truck towable trailer so that it may be transported to remote sites. Mounted to the truck towable trailer is a container adapted to accept and dewater a sand-water slurry pumped from the oil storage tank. The slurry is formed by injecting high pressure water from a water reservoir mounted to the truck towable trailer into the approximate centre of mass of the formation sand by way of a pipe having a nozzle generating a spherical spray pattern within the slurry. The pipe is forced into the slurry by way of a two counter-rotating drive wheels in frictional contact with the pipe. Included in the apparatus is a bifurcated conduit adapted for attachment to the storage tank drain port adapted for the injection of high pressure through one branch of the conduit and withdrawal of slurry from the other branch and into the container by way of a slurry pump. The dewatering of the slurry takes place by a plurality of screen filters mounted to the bottom, side and front inside walls of the container. Oil and water extracted from the slurry is recycled back into the storage tank for later removal and treatment. All pumps and conduits are mounted to the truck towable trailer so that the apparatus is self-contained.

MEMS scanner with dual magnetic and capacitive drive

A MEMS scanning device includes more than one type of actuation. In one approach capacitive and magnetic drives combine to move a portion of the device along a common path. In one such structure, the capacitive drive comes from interleaved combs. In another approach, a comb drive combines with a pair of planar electrodes to produce rotation of a central body relative to a substrate. In an optical scanning application, the central body is a mirror. In a biaxial structure, a gimbal ring carries the central body. The gimbal ring may be driven by more than one type of actuation to produce motion about an axis orthogonal to that of the central body. In another aspect, a MEMS scanning device is constructed with a reduced footprint.

Movable belt conveyor system

A movable belt conveyor system for a leach pad for use for sulfidic copper ore, where favorable conditions are to be generated for leaching out the copper by a slight compaction of the ore piled up into a dump for the microbiological leaching technology. The movable belt conveyor system of a length of up to several km is composed of a plurality of smaller belt segments, comprising a tail segment (70), standard segments (711-n) and a head segment (72), as well as a traveling tripper (8). To prevent the loading by these individual components from being excessively compacted by the weight of the device during multiple travel over the dump during the moving process, the belt drives with the driving drum are accommodated in the tail element (70), which is supported on the soil next to the leach pad. In addition, the traveling tripper (8) is designed as an independent unit with the belt drums, additional belt drives and the belt-tensioning means, which unit is autarchically displaceable on a caterpillar-type moving gear (85) of its own. Due to the moving of the belt on the caterpillar-type moving gears of the standard segments (711-n), on the head segment (72) and on the traveling tripper (8) as well as due to the absorption of the weight of the tail segment (70) by the transfer carriage (6), the surface pressure acting locally on the dump is reduced and the compaction of the ore on the dump due to being traveled over by the belt conveyor system remains low. Traveling over with a moving device, which frequently happens with the use of a moving caterpillar, is eliminated.
