Pre-processing Biometric Parameters before Encoding and Decoding

Biometric parameters acquired from human faces, voices, fingerprints, and irises are used for user authentication and access control. Because the biometric parameters are continuous and vary from one reading to the next, syndrome codes are applied to determine biometric syndrome vectors. The biometric syndrome vectors can be stored securely, while tolerating an inherent variability of biometric data. The stored biometric syndrome vector is decoded during user authentication using biometric parameters acquired at that time. The syndrome codes can also be used to encrypt and decrypt data. The biometric parameters can be pre-processed to form a binary representation, in which the binary representation has a set of predetermined statistical properties enforced imposed by a set of binary logical conditions.

Applications Server and Method

A speech applications server is arranged to provide a user driven service in accordance with an application program in response to user commands for selecting service options. The user is prompted by audio prompts to issue the user commands. The application program comprises a state machine operable to determine a state of the application program from one of a predetermined set of states defining a logical procedure through the user selected service options, transitions between states being determined in accordance with logical conditions to be satisfied in order to change between one state of the set and another state of the set. The logical conditions include whether a user has provided one of a set of possible commands. A prompt selection engine is operable to generate the audio prompts for prompting the commands from the user in accordance with predetermined rules. The prompt selected by the prompt selection engine is determined at run-time. Since the state machine and the prompt selection engine are separate entities and the prompts to be selected are determined at run-time, it is possible to effect a change to the prompt selection engine without influencing the operation of the state machine, enabling different customisations to be provided for the same user driven services, in particular this allows multilingual support, with the possibility of providing rules to adapt the prompt structure allowing for grammatical differences between to languages to be taken into account thus providing higher quality multiple language support.

A process builder for a system of routing electronic documents and a method for using the same are provided. The process builder receives an electronic document having programmable features. The process builder determines a number of attributes and form fields from the electronic document. Data input is received by the process builder from an electronic document author via a graphical user interface. The process builder defines logical conditions for one or more of the form fields and attributes based on the received data input, and combines the logical conditions into logical expressions. The process builder then translates the logical expressions into program code and inserts the generated program code into the electronic document.

A decoder provided according to an aspect of the present invention determines a type of each network abstraction layer (NAL) unit, and discards a NAL unit when the size of the NAL unit is inconsistent with the size according to the determined type. According to another aspect, a decoder corrects for errors in the non-pay load portions and uses the corrected non-pay load portions to recover the original data contained in the payload portions of the data stream. In an embodiment, various global parameters (which are applicable to the data stream unless changed further in the data stream) and the values in the slice headers are examined to correct the parameters in the slice headers. According to one more aspect, an end of frame is reliably detected by using an expected number of macro-blocks in a frame and a set of logical conditions of slice header parameters.

Method and system for automatic address allocation in a network and network protocol therefor

A method and system for automatic allocation of port addresses in a network is provided. The node performs a self-discovery after initial power-up, and for each port on the node, using unique values associated with the port in the network hierarchy, applies a function that allows for an inverse function to the set of values to generate a default unique address for the port. A typical hierarchical structure in a network is the network area, node, and, within the node, the shelf, the card and the port. Next, the node sends a frame including the default port address and node identifier, from the port to a connected node. The node polls the port for a frame with network information associated with the connected port on the other node. If a frame is received from the other node, the node applies a logical condition to the default and received port addresses, and, if the condition is satisfied, applies another function to the received port address to generate a new unique address for the port, and maintains the new port address within the node. The method is described for IP networks but can be equally applied to ATM or Frame Relay networks, and for any nodes that support Sub-network Access Protocol (SNAP).

The method comprises the following steps: S1) drawing a main wiring diagram of primary equipment of a substation; S2) carrying out model analysis on the main wiring diagram of the primary equipment to obtain an equipment model; S3) according to five-prevention rules, determining the switching principle of each type of operating equipment, and defining unlock state of condition equipment based on the switching principle; S4) when operating the operating equipment, searching in the equipment model to obtain the condition equipment; and S5) judging whether the real-time state of the condition equipment meets the unlock state, and if so, allowing operation, and if not, forbidding the operation. The method avoids manual work of defining logical conditions for each specific device in the substation and prevents the risk of making errors in manually defining the logical conditions.
