A face feature analysis which begins by generating multiple face feature candidates, e.g., eyes and nose positions, using an isolated frame face analysis. Then, a nostril tracking window is defined around a nose candidate and tests are applied to the pixels therein based on percentages of skin color area pixels and nostril area pixels to determine whether the nose candidate represents an actual nose. Once actual nostrils are identified, size, separation and contiguity of the actual nostrils is determined by projecting the nostril pixels within the nostril tracking window. A mouth window is defined around the mouth region and mouth detail analysis is then applied to the pixels within the mouth window to identify inner mouth and teeth pixels and therefrom generate an inner mouth contour. The nostril position and inner mouth contour are used to generate a synthetic model head. A direct comparison is made between the inner mouth contour generated and that of a synthetic model head and the synthetic model head is adjusted accordingly. Vector quantization algorithms may be used to develop a codebook of face model parameters to improve processing efficiency. The face feature analysis is suitable regardless of noise, illumination variations, head tilt, scale variations and nostril shape.

The apparatus represents a device having one or two sensors for capturing a single image or two images having the subject's eyes, in which a dimension, such as the horizontal axis, with respect to pixels in the single image or two first images characterizing zero head tilt, and processors in one or more of a housing with the one or two sensors or in a computer system which receives the single image or two images. The preferred embodiment uses two thermoelectric modules mounted on a belt and positioned under the armpits. The modules are most effective when placed in contact with the skin but still effective if placed over light clothing. Manual activation of the unit is preferred but it has input for optional head tilt sensor or eyelid closure sensor. It quietly alarms by sequentially cooling one of the thermoelectric modules while the other thermoelectric module is warmed slightly above body temperature. The sequential pulse driving cycle is controlled by a remote timer located in a small enclosure which is powered from a cigarette lighter plug. The drive signal duration and thus the level of alarm is controlled with a multi-position control on the enclosure.

In the thin-film magnetic head of the present invention, the distance to a heat-generating layer is shorter from the end part on the side facing, a recording medium in a magnetoresistive device than from the end part on the side facing the recording medium in an electromagnetic transducer. Therefore, even when the thin-film magnetic head tilts so that its electromagnetic transducer side approaches the recording medium when floating up from the recording medium, the amount of thermal expansion caused by the heat from the heat-generating layer is greater in the magnetoresistive device than in the electromagnetic transducer. This reduces the gap between the magnetoresistive device and the recording medium, whereby a high reproducing output can be obtained.

By controlling the oil cylinder, the flexible arm and the rotary table, the pruned branches are reliably conveyed back to the ground, so that the branches are pruned.

A curved dip tube for sprayer heads that solves the problem of spraying air as a container's contents are dispensed and reduced to a level that allows the tip of a straight dip tube to become disengaged with the liquid as the container is tilted downward. As the user of a sprayer head tilts or tips it from a vertical to a horizontal position to spray the intended target the liquid level pools at the lowest point in the container.
