The invention discloses a method for suppressing a peak-to-average power ratio of a wireless OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) signal based on segmented distribution optimization, mainly solving the problem that in the prior art, the peak-to-average power ratio suppressing effect is poor and the average power is not constant. The method for suppressing the peak-to-average power ratio of the wireless OFDM signal based on the segmented distribution optimization comprises the following steps of: (1), performing OFDM modulation on an input bit stream, and obtaining an original OFDM signal after upsampling; (2), establishing a companding function based on an improving target, and performing companding conversion on the original OFDM signal; (3), sending the signal after the companding conversion, and calculating the peak-to-average power ratio thereof; (4), calculating a decompanding function, and performing decompanding conversion on the received signal; and (5), downsampling the signal after the decompanding conversion, restoring the original bit stream after OFDM demodulation, and counting an error code rate. The method for suppressing the peak-to-average power ratio of the wireless OFDM signal based on the segmented distribution optimization can suppress the peak-to-average power ratio of the OFDM signal effectively, can ensure the constancy of the average power before and after signal companding, has relatively good error code performance, and can be widely applied to various next-generation broadband wireless OFDM communication systems.
