System and method for managing web-based forms and dynamic content of website

The present invention is directed to method, system and computer program product for managing dynamic content of website. The proposed method employs processing of database elements by using active descriptors. The active descriptors contain the generic descriptions of the database elements, which properties may change with time. The dynamic descriptors are used for describing database objects. The controls build are universal and can be employed for processing several classes of objects. Each class object has sets of assigned attributes containing additional descriptions of the class object. The proposed method allows using a lightly loaded thin nucleus of the DBMS, which does not contain the information about the class attributes. The class attributes are defined by active descriptors of each particular instance of the class object.

Flash file system power-up by using sequential sector allocation

A method and system for reducing the time for initializing a non-volatile memory device, such as flash memory, at power-up that takes advantage of the fact that many file systems are designed to perform sequential writes within a block of data units. The method and system includes, in one aspect, reading the last page of a block, determining the logical sector number of the page and generating a mapping table for that block by allocating the logical sector number to the last page and respectively allocating to each remaining page sequentially decreasing logical sector numbers. When not all sectors in the block are consecutive, mapping table information is built by reading only one page from each chain of consecutive sectors. In another aspect, a “deleted sector(s) present” flag is used in the last page of each block to determine whether the block contains deleted sectors, in which case the initialization procedure generally reads all sectors in the block. In addition, the initialization procedure reduces the time required to identify erased blocks by reading only the first and last pages of the block.

Performance logging using relative differentials and skip recording

The present invention is directed towards “skip” and “differential” recording techniques for recording values of network parameter to a log in a lossless manner while reducing storage resources used to record such values. The counter monitor of the present invention monitors and records values of counters at time intervals to generate a counter log provided via temporary or permanent storage. The counter monitor compares a reading of the value of the counter to a previously obtained value of the counter. If the value of the counter has not changed, the counter monitor records only the timestamp to the counter log, thereby “skipping” the recording of the unchanged value. If there is any change in the value of the counter, then the change in value of the counter, i.e., a “differential” value, along with the timestamp is stored in the counters log. To further reduce storage resource usage, the counter monitor also stores changes to the timestamps as differential changes in time values.

Reentry into compressed data

Apparatus and methods are provided for entering compressed data streams at selected reentry points to initiate decoding thereby allowing efficient manipulation of the compressed data and minimizing storage requirements. The reentry information preferably includes bit-level pointers and sufficient state information to initialize the decoder properly. This enables decoding without having to resume at independently decodable points, such as JPEG restart markers. For example, in the context of a JPEG image, in addition to the typical information available to the decoder that has been passed in earlier markers, the reentry information for a given MCU boundary may include: a bit-level pointer to the first block's DC Huffman code, the position of the output, and a DC predictor for each component of the MCU. This allows decompression to be performed in the appropriate order to accomplish various data manipulation operations, such as rotation, thus significantly reducing buffering requirements. Reentry information into a compressed data stream can be generated during encoding, decoding, partial encoding, partial decoding, entropy encoding, and / or entropy decoding. In addition, a reentry decoder may quickly interpret the compressed data sufficiently to preserve desired reentry information and discard unneeded output of the decoding process and terminate immediately after the last desired reentry point. This enables buffering of pieces of compressed data with associated reentry information rather than buffering the entire decompressed data. Additionally, when a subset of the reconstructed data is needed the step of recompressing the individual pieces can be avoided by saving reentry information with the associated pieces of compressed data.

System and method for investigating large amounts of data

A data analysis system is proposed for providing fine-grained low latency access to high volume input data from possibly multiple heterogeneous input data sources. The input data is parsed, optionally transformed, indexed, and stored in a horizontally-scalable key-value data repository where it may be accessed using low latency searches. The input data may be compressed into blocks before being stored to minimize storage requirements. The results of searches present input data in its original form. The input data may include access logs, call data records (CDRs), e-mail messages, etc. The system allows a data analyst to efficiently identify information of interest in a very large dynamic data set up to multiple petabytes in size. Once information of interest has been identified, that subset of the large data set can be imported into a dedicated or specialized data analysis system for an additional in-depth investigation and contextual analysis.

Video data de-interlacing using perceptually-tuned interpolation scheme

A de-interlacing architecture is taught. The de-interlacing architecture adopts a perceptual model to measure membership probabilities for a collection of image samples of an interlaced video source with respect to extracted static, motion, and texture image components of the same collection. The probabilities are used to prioritize contributions from the three image components and produce a progressive video sequence which is a summation of the portions of the aforementioned components. The perceptual model uses a dual-stage motion-based image difficulty measuring scheme to equalize contributions from the three image components in a manner that video artifacts in the output signal are least perceptive. A parameter mapping technique composed of several logic units, a decision function, a weight assignment block, and a look-up table, will be presented to derive the final component weights. The mapping technique contains a multitude of thresholds and decisions which aid in interpolating the missing lines of the progressive frame.
