Method and apparatus for supporting SIP/IMS-based femtocells

A femtocell is integrated into a core network so as to securely and efficiently deliver one or more mobile services to an end user on an existing mobile device over a broadband connection. This integration can be into a basic Internet Protocol (IP)-based network, or an IMS-based network. In an illustrated embodiment, a femtocell is integrated to a SIP- or IMS-based network using a “convergence” server. The convergence server preferably is a SIP-based fixed mobile convergence (FMC) application server that provides an all-IP approach to core network integration for femtocells. The convergence server provides a number of high level functions including secure access of an end user mobile device into the core network through the femtocell (which involves authenticating the femtocell as well as a specific end user mobile device), single number voice and messaging services (by updating an end user's location to be the femtocell), mobility (to support handover between the femtocell and macro cell networks), delivery of supplementary services (such as call waiting, call hold, caller ID, three-way calling, and the like) on the femtocell network, and the delivery of new and advanced services (such as home landline routing, mobile TV, multimedia downloads and the like).

Web-based address book

Disclosed is an Internet-based address book that enables individuals (“users”) or (“members”) to use people (“contacts”) from their address book for event planning, purchasing gifts, marketing, and anything else anyone dreams up. The system includes the following modules: an address book whose information can be utilized by any client for any purpose, a full-fledged event planner suitable for planning formal events such as weddings, a marketing module that allows people to refer products and information to people who would be interested, and a recipient transaction module that makes recipient-based transactions such as gifts and money transfer assessable and convenient. Features of the event planner include automatic generation and reprinting of invitations, placement cards, and thank-you cards with proper etiquette. Features of the marketing module includes the ability (a) to restrict the contacts that can be marketed to based on demographics, negative feedback, missing requisite information, or other reasons, (b) to reward users that market merchandise to their contacts with a discount on the merchandise itself, and (c) to bundle all the marketing sent by all users to one contact and deliver it as a single consolidated information package. Features of the recipient transactions module include the ability to (a) send one person a gift through postal mail or email, (b) send many people a gift, and (c) allow many people to purchase a single gift together.

Modular Heat Exchanger

A heat exchanger comprising a plurality of plates that are demountably attached to a frame is disclosed. Each plate comprises a plurality of channels for conveying a primary fluid through the heat exchanger. The frames are arranged in the frame so that spaces between adjacent frame pairs define conduits for conveying a secondary fluid through the heat exchanger. The plates are mounted in the frame so that they can be individually removed from the frame. Further, each of the channels is fluidically connected to input and output ports for the primary fluid by detachable couplings. As a result, heat exchangers in accordance with the present invention are more easily repaired or refurbished than prior-art heat exchangers.

Information processing device and information processing method

An information processing device is connected to a plurality of networks and performs information processing. The networks include a control network connected to a control device in a mobile object, an information network connected to an information device in the mobile object, and an external network connected to an external device outside of the mobile object. The information processing device includes firewalls each connected to one of the networks, and a processor connected to each network via the corresponding firewall. The information processing device isolates at least the control network from the other networks.

National customer recognition system and method

A system and method for implementing a customer tracking and recognition program that encompasses customers' gaming and non-gaming activity alike at a plurality of affiliated casino properties. Customer information is accumulated at each affiliated casino through one or more LAN-based management systems, updated to a central patron database (CPDB) that is coupled to each casino LAN through a WAN, and made available to each affiliated casino property as needed. Customer accounts are automatically activated and provided with data from the CPDB when a customer from one casino property first visits an affiliated casino property. Customer accounts are updated with new activity data whenever a management system associated with the casino receives customer data from input devices, such as card readers, workstations, and dumb terminals, located at various venues throughout the casino. Customers are awarded points, based on their tracked activity at all affiliated casino properties. The point awards have a monetary value and are redeemable for gifts, meals, cash and the like, at any of the casino properties. The point awards may embody different promotional schemes in which point awards are adjusted to target different casino properties or different venues within a casino. Summary customer data, including point levels, is regularly updated to reflect ongoing customer activity at the casino property. This data is made available to employees at any affiliated casino property, as needed, to personalize customer services.

System and method for telemarketing through a hypertext network

A system and method for providing telemarketing services through a hypertext network that interconnects a telemarketing server system with a customer computer and an agent computer. The telemarketing server accepts a telemarketing request from the customer, and forwards the request to the agent if the agent is available, and to a queue if the agent is not available. When an agent receives a request, communications are either established between the customer and agent at once, or else scheduled for a later time. Telemarketing functions are implemented separately from media transport functions through a hypertext network such that the need for geographic centralization of telemarketing agents is eliminated.
