The spread section 14 has a function of improving the starting properties of the lamp and forms an arc ball, and the straight section has a function of improving a plasma density. Thereby, discharge at a starting time is made easy to pass through the second discharge path limit portion 11. As a result, a rapid start of discharge between a cathode 23 and an anode portion 8 is achieved in the second discharge path limit portion 11, and that contributes to proper generation of an arc ball after lighting.

This is accomplished using a microfacet scattering model to develop the functional form of a polarized bidirectional reflectance distribution function (BRDF) of the object surface. The ambient radiance is ray traced to the BRDF to create the calibration maps φ(AoLP) and θ(DoLP,φ), which may be combined into a single calibration map θ(DoLP, AoLP). These maps are applied to the AoLP and DoLP images to compute an array of surface normals, which are then mapped to form a 3-D image of the object.

In addition, effects of wrongly estimated regional motion vectors can be minimized by using a codebook. Furthermore, noises are minimized and an object can be accurately extracted by using averaged pixel value difference values.
