Method and apparatus for shuffling and ordering playing cards

A card shuffling system and method operates with four card hoppers arranged into first and second pairs. In the operation of the system, a first pair of card hoppers holds approximately two halves of a deck, which are then selectively interlaced together and supplied to the other pair of hoppers with the cards interlaced first into one of the second pair of hoppers and then into the other. The cards then are selectively interlaced from the hoppers of the second pair of hoppers back to the hoppers of the first pair of hoppers, with the operation being repeated, if desired.

Endoscope system and method for inspecting electronic endoscope

An electronic endoscope has a light guide for leading a light and a solid-state image sensor for capturing an image of a human body cavity during illumination. In inspecting the number of broken optical fibers in the light guide, a cap is attached to a distal portion of the electronic endoscope. The cap has a test chart. The solid-state image sensor captures an image of the test chart which is illuminated with the light transmitted through the light guide. A photometric circuit calculates an average luminance value “Y” of the test chart from a chart image signal. A broken fiber number calculator calculates the number “N” of broken optical fibers that satisfies N=M×(1−Y / I). “Y” represents an average luminance value of the test chart. “I” represents an ideal average luminance value when all optical fibers are conducting, and “M” represents the total number of the optical fibers.

System and method for detecting hazardous materials

The present invention relates to mitigating the effects of distortions in pulse shape and energy of spectrum from gamma ray and / or neutron detectors. In one embodiment, the present invention uses pattern recognition techniques to identify and separate various distortions in the pulse shape and energy to obtain a better estimate of the true number of pulses of specific energies which are characteristic of the radioactive materials present. Additionally, autoregressive models, pulse filtering and pattern recognition methods are used to obtain more accurate pulse characterization. In one embodiment, the present invention relates to a method of detecting a material comprising the steps of deriving an energy spectrum from nuclear radiation detected from the material, processing the energy spectrum for enhancing the energy spectrum, extracting one or more features from the enhanced energy spectrum, and classifying the material based on the one or more features.

Method for recycling/reclaiming a monitor wafer

The present invention provides a method for recycling / reclaiming a monitor wafer and a method for testing a manufacturing process. The method for recycling / reclaiming the monitor wafer, among other steps, includes providing a monitor wafer having a number of front surface defects thereon (110), and annealing the monitor wafer in a presence of an inert gas to correct one or more of the number of front surface defects (150).

Control device for electronic appliance and control method of the electronic appliance

An electronic appliance includes a microphone which detects a clapping sound, an edge signal extractor, an edge pulse generator and a judgment processing circuit. The judgment processing circuit generates a first gate having a first time width to detect whether or not a second clapping sound has been generated after elapse of a first predetermined time from a first time when the microphone detects a first clapping sound and the edge pulse generator generates the first edge pulse corresponding to the first clapping sound. Subsequently, the judgment processing circuit generates a second gate having a second time width to detect whether or not a third clapping sound has been generated after elapse of a second predetermined time from a second time when the edge pulse generator generates the second edge pulse corresponding to the second clapping sound.
