Method and apparatus for shuffling and ordering playing cards

A card shuffling system and method operates with four card hoppers arranged into first and second pairs. In the operation of the system, a first pair of card hoppers holds approximately two halves of a deck, which are then selectively interlaced together and supplied to the other pair of hoppers with the cards interlaced first into one of the second pair of hoppers and then into the other. The cards then are selectively interlaced from the hoppers of the second pair of hoppers back to the hoppers of the first pair of hoppers, with the operation being repeated, if desired.

Object measuring apparatus, object measuring method, and program product

The present invention provides an object measuring apparatus capable of performing high-speed process and accurately counting the number of a plurality of objects even in the case where the plurality of objects pass a boundary line simultaneously. The object measuring apparatus extracts motion vectors at a plurality of times in each of a plurality of positions on a boundary line on the basis of a plurality of images. The object measuring apparatus obtains at least one integral value by integrating components perpendicular to the boundary line of the motion vectors. As the at least one integral value, for example, an integral value derived by integrating the perpendicular components of one of positive and negative signs is obtained. The object measuring apparatus calculates the number of moving objects (people and the like) passing the boundary line on the basis of the integral value.

Endoscope system and method for inspecting electronic endoscope

An electronic endoscope has a light guide for leading a light and a solid-state image sensor for capturing an image of a human body cavity during illumination. In inspecting the number of broken optical fibers in the light guide, a cap is attached to a distal portion of the electronic endoscope. The cap has a test chart. The solid-state image sensor captures an image of the test chart which is illuminated with the light transmitted through the light guide. A photometric circuit calculates an average luminance value “Y” of the test chart from a chart image signal. A broken fiber number calculator calculates the number “N” of broken optical fibers that satisfies N=M×(1−Y / I). “Y” represents an average luminance value of the test chart. “I” represents an ideal average luminance value when all optical fibers are conducting, and “M” represents the total number of the optical fibers.

Device and method for estimating the number of arrival signals

A largest eigenvalue is determined among eigenvalues corresponding to a correlation matrix indicating correlations between a plurality of channels receiving incoming radar waves from an object that reflects a radar wave as a reference eigenvalue λ1. A ratio Rλi (=10 log 10(λi / λ1)) is calculated of each eigenvalue λ2 to λN to the reference eigenvalue λ1. Eigenvalues among the reference eigenvalue λ1 and the eigenvalues λ2 to λN of which the eigenvalue ratio Rλi is greater than a noise threshold TH are identified as eigenvalues in signal space. Eigenvalues of which the eigenvalue ratio Rλi is equal to the noise threshold TH or less are identified as eigenvalues in noise space. The number of eigenvalues identified as the eigenvalues in signal space is counted as the number of arrival signals.
