Adaptive integrated circuit for magnetoresistive sensors

A device, system and method for adaptively tracking amplitude boundary values of a real time sensor output signal. In accordance with the method of the present invention, an amplitude boundary value, which may be a peak or min amplitude value, representing the current amplitude boundary of the sensor output signal is stored within a digital counter. A two-tap DAC is utilized to convert the digitally stored amplitude boundary value into a reference signal level corresponding in amplitude to the amplitude boundary value. The DAC also converts the amplitude boundary value into an offset reference signal level corresponding in amplitude to the amplitude boundary value offset by a specified multiple of the DAC resolution. The reference signal level and offset reference signal are compared with the real time sensor signal and the digitally stored amplitude boundary value is adjusted in accordance with which reference signal level exceeds the real time sensor signal.

Clock distribution using MTJ sensing

Clock signals are distributed on a chip by applying an oscillating magnetic field to the chip. Local clock generation circuits including magnetic field sensors are distributed around the chip and are coupled to local clocked circuitry on the chip. The magnetic field sensors may include clock magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) in which a magnetic orientation of the free layer is free to rotate in the free layer plane in response to the applied magnetic field. The MTJ resistance alternates between a high resistance value and a low resistance value as the free layer magnetization rotates. Clock generation circuitry coupled to the clock MTJs senses voltage oscillations caused by the alternating resistance of the clock MTJs. The clock generation circuitry includes amplifiers, which convert the sensed voltage into local clock signals.

Shock detector with DC offset suppression using internal components

A shock detector, such as for disk drives, which eliminates discrete external capacitors used in prior art devices. A first stage operational amplifier (without external capacitors) provides part of the gain required. This is followed by a second stage switched capacitor high pass filter (without external capacitors) that provides the remaining gain required while filtering out the DC offset of the first stage operational amplifier. In order to cover the range of frequencies expected without aliasing problems, two switched capacitor high pass filters in parallel are used, each designed with a different cut-off frequency.

Magnetoelectric data trigger triggered by magnetic field and implementation method thereof

The invention provides a magnetoelectric data trigger triggered by a magnetic field and an implementation method thereof. The magnetoelectric data trigger comprises three layers of magnetoelectric heterojunctions and copper coils uniformly wound on the peripheries of the heterojunctions, and magnetic field pulse trigger signals are provided by electromagnets applied to two ends of the rectangularmagnetoelectric heterojunctions. Magnetization of different degrees is generated by controlling a bias magnetic field to induce a magnetostriction phase through the magnetoelectric effect, so that thedynamic magnetomechanical strain of the magnetoelectric heterojunctions is regulated and controlled, and the output voltage maintaining and converting functions are achieved by changing the directionand residual magnetism occurring in the bias magnetic field under the excitation of an alternating magnetic field. Therefore, the ferroelectric layers of the magnetoelectric heterojunctions generatenonvolatile voltage and cause the change of the output high / low level state, thereby realizing the tracking and maintaining functions of classic data triggering. Compared with a traditional D trigger, the magnetoelectric data trigger has the remarkable advantages of being low in loss, quick in response, simple in wiring and the like, and can replace the traditional D trigger and be applied to a modern digital system.
