Irregular, tessellated building units

An irregular, tessellated building unit comprises x primary elements, wherein x is an integer equal to or greater than 1. The primary element is a rotational tessellation having a plural pairs of sides extending in a generally radial direction from plural vertices, respectively. In each pair, the two sides are rotationally spaced by an angle that is divided evenly into 360 degrees. Preferably, all of the sides are irregularly shaped. In one preferred embodiment all six sides are irregularly shaped, images of each other and comprise mid-point rotations. As a result, any side of any unit can mate with any other side of any other unit. Optionally, spacers are provided on the sides of each unit. A wide variety of units may be constructed having different numbers and arrangements of primary elements. As all the units are combinations of primary elements, they readily mate with each other. A surface covering comprises a multiplicity of units assembled to form a continuous surface without overlap between units and without substantial gaps between units. A structure, such as a wall or column can be formed of building units of the invention. Because of the irregular side configurations, and different sizes and shapes of individual units, the resulting surface or structure has a natural, non-repeating pattern appearance. Optionally, minor surface and edges variations are made from unit to unit to further enhance the natural appearance of the surface covering or structure.

Flooring system with slant pattern

Laminated flooring planks include decorative motifs, mechanically embossed-in-registration surface textures, recessed perimeters, and locking mechanisms. Adjacent planks substantially aligned allow embossed-in-registration patterns to be substantially continuous across adjacent flooring panels. The recessed perimeter prevents the edges of the flooring panel from prematurely wearing. Individual planks within the flooring system may comprise at least one partial sub-panel having a decorative motif and / or embossed surface texture (i.e., pattern) that is complementary with a pattern of a neighboring partial sub-panel or plank. Each plank may include edge patterns adjacent a portion of an edge of the plank and at least one bulk pattern adjacent the edge patterns. The decorative motif may include stripes or slanted strips of wood, the strips aligning across adjacent planks to from a continuous, uninterrupted strip pattern.

Partial printing of a substrate with edge sealed printed portions

This invention relates to the partial printing of a substrate with a plurality of layers to form a partially printed panel. Within each printed portion, at least one layer is applied to the substrate with inexact registration in relation to a second layer. A "control layer" comprising "edge sealing strips" is printed so that, within each printed portion, each edge of the at least two layers with inexact registration is located within the edges of an overlapping edge sealing strip. The edge sealing strips may provide a visual seal or mask at the edges of printed portions, for example to enable the each printed portion to have the desired color rendering within a one-way vision control panel. The invention can comprise the physical sealing of printed portions containing gaseous or liquid fluids or particles in suspension, such as fragrances, medication, environmentally reactive materials or security printing features.

Mixed cut gemstone

A mixed cut gemstone comprising a girdle, a crown above the girdle and a pavilion below the girdle. The crown has a girdle break, a table break and a table. The table break is cut with triangular shaped facets and the girdle break is cut with triangular and quadrilaterally shaped facets. The present invention also describes a pavilion having a width and a length formed by two pairs of opposing pavilion sides and four pavilion corners. The pavilion is composed of four steps including: a first step descending from said girdle to a first step facet junction, a second step descending from said first step facet junction to a second step facet junction, a third step descending from said second step facet junction to a third step facet junction, and a fourth step descending from said third step facet junction to said culet. This mixed cut gemstone enables the appreciation of the desirable characteristics of a diamond in ways that prior art cuts do not allow.

Decoration plate and its mfg. method, articles and time-pieces therewith

In carving a decorative groove (7) formed in V-shape cross section extending from inside to outside on a dial plate (2) of a timepiece as a decorative plate, the slant angle of an inner slanted side (7A) forming the V-shape of the decorative groove (7) is made gentler than an outer slanted side (7B) at an inner part of the spiral, so that action of light reflected on the flat surface of the dial plate (2) macroscopically becomes similar to the light reflected on a bulging surface to give the central portion of the dial plate (2) a bulging appearance, whereby a three-dimensional effect is provided by the decorative groove (7) even when the dial plate (2) is made of a thin plate, thereby adding depth and a luxurious touch or aspect.

Cloth-shearing decorative label as well as making method and uses thereof

The invention provides a cut cloth decorated glue and the manufacture method and application. The cut cloth decorated glue provided by the invention takes the weaving fabrics, more particularly the silk weaving tributary brocade as the carrier of the patterns; a layer of the glue membrane is coated on the ventral-dorsal part of the weaving fabrics and patterns are cut to manufacture the invention. The cut cloth decoration glue can be applied to the manufacture of the cut cloth mounted painting. The invention has the methods that a gatpot flower is mounted on the lining paper; the cut cloth decorated glue is then bonded on the surface of the gatpot flower; the cut cloth decorated glue and the gatpot flower are firmly bonded to each other by hot pressing; finally, the mount is implemented by adopting normal mounting method to manufacture the cut cloth mounting painting. Similarly, the cut cloth decorated glue can be also applied to the manufacture of cut clothes or cut decorated fabrics. The invention creatively takes the weaving fabrics as the carrier of the paper-cut art and takes the cut paper as the cut cloth which is further made into cut cloth decorated glue product which can be bonded at anywhere people like according to the requirement, leading the paper-cut art to be actually melted in the modern life and work of people.
