Reduced search space technique for codeword selection

A method of determining indicators for matrix codewords in a matrix codeword codebook, where the matrix codewords are adapted for communicating information between a transmitter and a receiver. The method includes providing a lookup table that is associated with multiple codewords that are associated with a codebook. The lookup table has m rows, and each row in the lookup table has a one-to-one correspondence with a codeword in the multiple codewords. Each row has p entries and each of the p entries holds a codeword indicator that identifies a codeword in the multiple codewords. The (i,j)th entry in the lookup table holds the codeword indicator identifying the jth most similar codeword to the codeword associated with the ith row according to a similarity metric, where 1≦i≦m and 1≦j≦p, and the m rows include a row k. The method includes identifying a first indicator in the row k by testing each of the indicators in the first p entries of row k to determine which of the indicators in the first n entries identifies a reduced search codeword that best satisfies a selection criterion, wherein, n has a predetermined value and 1≦n≦p, and, in relation to the other remaining indicators in the first n entries of the first row, the first indicator identifies the reduced search codeword that best satisfies the selection criterion.

Method and apparatus for compressing and decompressing images captured from viewpoints throughout N-dimensional space

Techniques for compressing and decompressing images captured from viewpoints throughout an n-dimensional space. As opposed to conventional approaches, these techniques exploit image coherence over the entire n-dimensional space, providing quick access to images along arbitrary contiguous viewpoint paths during computer graphics applications. This is accomplished by combining a hierarchical data structure with a compression methodology. Such techniques provide for generating and arranging reference images and residual images into a spatial image hierarchy such as a binary tree structure. Images and residuals may be encoded using intra-image compression. A captured image is extracted via a sequence of image warping and addition operations.

Attenuation correction in nuclear medicine studies by simultaneous transmission and emission data measurement and estimation of emission-to-transmission crosstalk

Attenuation correction in SPECT studies such as cardiac function imaging is carried out using an iterative statistically-based transmission projection reconstruction algorithm that is capable of modeling overlapping transmission beams from a line source array of radiation emitters. Downscatter between emission and transmission photons is additively corrected for in the algorithm. Optimal line source spacing techniques and source collimation angle selection are derived to improve performance and reduce cost.

Gravitational field generation and control technology

The invention provides a gravitational field generation and control technology and belongs to the space technology. The magnetic current velocity gradient is used for generating the gravitational field effect in space, so that aircraft flight and space propulsion are supported. The gravitational field generation and control technology is characterized in that two symmetrically-existing vortex magnetic fields are manufactured in plasma, the two vortex magnetic fields excite each other to form a spherical vortex magnetic field, and the magnetic current velocity gradient of the magnetic field generates the gravitational field effect in space. Different gravitational fields are generated by changing the intensity, the rotation velocities and the rotation axis directions of the two vortex magnetic fields; in the gravitational field of the earth, a device can move to the site conforming to the gravitational field generated by the device and hovers, in other words, if the device and an aircraft propelled by the device need to hover, the gravitational field effect of the device is adjusted to conform to the current position earth gravitational field effect; if the device needs to arrive at another site, the gravitational field effect of the device is adjusted to conform to the gravitational field effect of the appointed site, and therefore the device can fly to the appointed site.

Wireless connectivity using white spaces

Techniques for wireless connectivity using white spaces (e.g., television (TV) white spaces) are described. In at least some embodiments, movement of a device operating as a white space access point is monitored by local sensors within the device. Movement data that is gathered by the local sensors is used to determine an upper bound of distance travelled. When the upper bound reaches a threshold distance, various actions can be performed relating to the data transmission, such as to cease transmission or to utilize different portions of the radio spectrum.
