The invention discloses a rapid
seedling raising method by using
hickory nut tree branches. The method comprises the following steps that in early spring from late February to early March, when sap isabout to flow, sturdy branches, younger than two-year-old, of a
hickory nut tree are selected, a crescent-shaped notch is carved by a knife along a
bud base part at the position 3-5 cm away from eachnutrient
branch base, and a same notch is carved opposite to the notch; a
bud in the same line with the original notch is selected from each
branch upward at the interval of 2-3 buds, and 3-6 notchesare carved in the base and the opposite surface along each
branch according to the same method. The notches are painted with a rooting agent, rooting matrixes are used for wrapping the notches, thenblack-white film is used for wrapping the matrixes, and the upper portion and the lower portion of the black-white film are fixed by self-locking nylon cable ties. After 45-60 days, the
hickory nut tree branches are
cut off along the bases, each notch is provided with a
seedling with root, each branch is cultivated into 3-6 seedlings, the branches with roots are placed in prepared land, the self-locking nylon cable ties are
cut off, the black-white film is taken down, and the hickory nut tree seedlings with the matrixes are planted in soil. The rapid
seedling raising method has the advantagesof short seedling period, high seedling efficiency,
high survival rate, easy process and low operational skill requirements, and is conveniently promoted to farmers and used by the farmers.
