Glycoconjugates is the general classification for carbohydrates covalently linked with other chemical species such as proteins, peptides, lipids and saccharides. Glycoconjugates are formed in processes termed glycosylation.

Targeted Delivery System for Bioactive Agents

In accordance with the present invention, compounds, compositions and methods are provided that allow for the administration of a bioactive agent to an organism, including a human or an animal. The present invention can be used to treat or prevent a disease and / or disorder with a bioactive agent, or can be used to safely vaccinate a human or animal against a bioactive agent. The invention can also be used as a method for the delivery of bioactive agents for the treatment or prevention of a disease and / or a disorder, particularly targeted delivery of bioactive agents through the administration of glycoconjugates containing a bioactive agent bound to a targeting compound through a modified saccharide residue.

Compositions and methods for preparing staphylococcus aureus serotype 5 and 8 capsular polysaccharide conjugate immunogenic compositions

The present invention relates to immunogenic conjugates comprising S. aureus serotype 5 and 8 capsular polysaccharides conjugated to carrier proteins and methods for their preparation and use. Methods for making the immunogenic conjugates of the invention involve covalent conjugation of the capsular polysaccharides with the carrier proteins using conjugation chemistry involving either 1,1-carboyl-di-1,2,4-triazole (CDT) or 3-(2-pyridyldithio)-propionyl hydrazide (PDPH).
