Voice personalization of speech synthesizer

InactiveUS6970820B2Excellent personalization resultMinimal computing burdenSpeech synthesisPersonalizationIndependent parameter
The speech synthesizer is personalized to sound like or mimic the speech characteristics of an individual speaker. The individual speaker provides a quantity of enrollment data, which can be extracted from a short quantity of speech, and the system modifies the base synthesis parameters to more closely resemble those of the new speaker. More specifically, the synthesis parameters may be decomposed into speaker dependent parameters, such as context-independent parameters, and speaker independent parameters, such as context dependent parameters. The speaker dependent parameters are adapted using enrollment data from the new speaker. After adaptation, the speaker dependent parameters are combined with the speaker independent parameters to provide a set of personalized synthesis parameters. To adapt the parameters with a small amount of enrollment data, an eigenspace is constructed and used to constrain the position of the new speaker so that context independent parameters not provided by the new speaker may be estimated.

Near real-time detection and classification of machine anomalies using machine learning and artificial intelligence

A method of determining anomalous operation of a system includes: capturing a stream of data representing sensed (or determined) operating parameters of the system over a range of operating states, with a stability indicator representing whether the system was operating in a stable state when the operating parameters were sensed; determining statistical properties of the stream of data, including an amplitude-dependent parameter and a variance thereof over time parameter for an operating regime representing stable operation; determining a statistical norm for the statistical properties that distinguish between normal operation and anomalous operation of the system; responsive to detecting that normal and anomalous operation of the system can no longer be reliably distinguished, determining new statistical properties to distinguish between normal and anomalous system operation; and outputting a signal based on whether a concurrent stream of data representing sensed operating parameters of the system represent anomalous operation of the system.

Pictorial Representation Of Patient Condition Trending

The disclosure describes improved systems and methods for displaying a trend history of the patient condition using pictorial representations that dynamically change as the clinician advances and reverses through an independent parameter. The present application displays changes in patient condition as a pictorial instead of a number or waveform. By displaying changes in patient condition in a pictorial, a clinician may be able to quickly understand how the dependent parameters have changed as a function of an independent parameter. As the pictorial changes, it animates from one condition to the next to more effectively indicate changes in patient condition. A representation of the normal or desired condition for a parameter is shown as a static pictorial that is overlaid with the dynamically changing trend. In this manner the clinician can determine how the patient condition is changing relative to a desired state.

Method and system for optimizing the connection set up time in high speed communication networks for recovering from network failure

This method enables optimizing the time required for reestablishing connections between end users attached to a data communication network, which connections were disrupted due to a network failure. The network includes access nodes and transit nodes interconnected with network links / trunks (with no specific distinction being herein required between both designations of a communication line). The end users are attached to the network through access nodes and each said access node permanently stores an image of the current network trunk including the number Ni of connections currently supported by said network trunk. Upon detection of a trunk failure, each access node supporting connections affected by said failure, is made aware of the total number (Ni) of connections in each priority group affected by the failure, together with a network dependent parameter (TP) representing the elementary processing time required to reroute a single network connection. Then each access node may independently, start a first reconnection set-up procedure at a time Ri randomly selected between zero and (Ni-ni) *TP, where ni is the number of connections supported by the access node in each priority group, and then space the required subsequent reconnections set-ups by a time equal to (Ti-Ri) / ni, with Ti=Ni*TP.

Multi-channel hierarchical audio coding with compact side information

A parametric representation of a multi-channel audio signal describes the spatial properties of the audio signal well with compact side information when a coherence information, describing the coherence between a first and a second channel, is derived within a hierarchical encoding process only for channel pairs including a first channel having only information of a left side with respect to a listening position and including a second channel having only information from a right side with respect to a listening position. As within the hierarchical process the multiple audio channels of the audio signal are downmixed iteratively into monophonic channels, one can pick the relevant parameters from an encoding step involving only channel pairs carrying the information needed to describe the spatial properties of the multi-channel audio signal.

Circuit simulation apparatus incorporating diffusion length dependence of transistors and method for creating transistor model

From the data of diffusion-length-dependent parameters extracted from the parameters of the transistor model of MOS transistors and from the parameters of transistors having various diffusion lengths, a diffusion-length-dependent parameter correcting unit creates approximate expressions of the diffusion length dependence of these parameters, and calculates parameter correction values to be used instead of original parameter values by using the created approximate expressions. Hence, the correction values can be used easily instead of the original parameter values, whereby a transistor model of MOS transistors having a different diffusion length DL can be created easily. Circuit simulation in consideration of the diffusion length dependence of the drain currents of MOS transistors can thus be carried out, whereby highly accurate simulation can be attained.

A defibrillator capable of delivering a damped biphasic truncated (DBT) defibrillation pulse is provided. An energy storage circuit is coupled across a high voltage switch such as an H-bridge for delivering a defibrillation pulse to the patient through a pair of electrodes. A controller operates to control the entire defibrillation process and detects shockable rhythms from the patient via an ECG front end. The energy storage circuit consists of an energy storage capacitor, a series inductor, a shunt diode, and optionally a resistor in series with the inductor. The controller measures as the patient dependent parameter the time interval between the initial delivery of the defibrillation pulse and the occurrence of the peak current or voltage to determine the first and second phases of the defibrillation pulse to provide for compensation for patient impedance. Other types of patient dependent parameters, measured either before or during delivery of the DBT defibrillation pulse, could be alternatively employed to achieve the impedance compensation.
