The method includes the following steps that S1, brightness information, traffic flow information, vehicle speed information and vehicle existence information inside and outside a tunnel are collected; S2, according to the data information collected in S1 and road tunnel lighting design details, set brightness values needed for all road sections inside the tunnel are calculated; S3, an image of a road surface inside the tunnel is obtained through a camera, and actual illumination values of all points inside the tunnel and the illumination distribution condition of the whole road surface are calculated based on the grey scale of the image; S4, PID closed-loop feedback adjustment is performed according to the set brightness values and the actual illumination values, whether the actual output brightness of lamps inside the tunnel at the present meets the requirement or not is judged, if not, new brightness values are calculated, and the brightness values output after the PID closed-loop feedback adjustment are converted into control order information of brightness of the lamps inside the tunnel; S5, a dimming controller converts an order command signal of the brightness of the lamps into a corresponding pulse signal, and the output brightness values of the lamps inside the tunnel are adjusted through a PWM dimming mode.
