The invention provides a system and a method for cooling servers. The system for cooling the servers comprises at least one group of cooling modules. Each group of cooling modules comprises a cooling unit and at least one server cabinet, the servers are arranged in the server cabinets, each cooling unit comprises a cooling device and at least one airflow regulating device, the airflow regulating devices are arranged in the cooling devices, an air outlet is formed in a side wall of each cooling device, each cooling device is in contact with a side wall of the corresponding server cabinet, an air inlet is formed in the side surface, which is in contact with the corresponding server cabinet, of each cooling device, hot air which is exhausted from the tail ends of the server cabinets can be sucked into the cooling devices by the aid of the airflow regulating devices, and cold air which is outputted by the cooling devices can be delivered to the air inlets via the air outlets. The system and the method have the advantages that the server cabinets are matched with the cooling units, accordingly, cold air and external exchange links can be reduced, the traditional cold pool structures can be omitted, and the cost can be lowered.
