Bone conduction hearing device with open-ear microphone

ActiveUS20090052698A1Natural sound inputGood sound localizationBone conduction transducer hearing devicesElectromagnetic transmissionBone conduction hearing deviceEar canal
Systems and methods for transmitting an audio signal through a bone of a user includes receiving an audio signal from a first, microphone positioned, at an entrance or in a first ear canal; and vibrating a first transducer to audibly transmit the audio signal through the bone. A second microphone can be positioned in a second ear canal and the two microphones preserve and deliver inter-aural sound level and phase differences that naturally occur so that the user can perceive directionality.

Sports Garments With Enhanced Visual And/Or Moisture Management Properties

A garment, such as a sports uniform, may provide visibility zones and / or flicker zones to enhance the ability of teammates to perceive the wearer. Different zones on a garment may have different sets of visual properties that may contrast with one another and / or a visual background. A denier differential between layers of a garment may facilitate moisture transport across the layers of the garment. Flicker zones may be discrete from or combined with visibility zones. One or more zones of a garment may also be substantially non-reflective at wavelengths associated with the visual background encountered while wearing the garment.

Sound perception using frequency transposition by moving the envelope

The application relates to a method of improving a user's perception of an input sound. The application further relates to an audio processing device and to its use. The object of the present application is to increase the sound quality of a sound signal as perceived by a user, e.g. a hearing impaired user. The method comprises a) Defining a critical frequency fcrit between a low frequency range and a high frequency range; b) Analyzing an input sound in a number of frequency bands below and above said critical frequency; c) Defining a cut-off frequency fcut below said critical frequency fcrit; d) Identifying a source frequency band above said cut-off frequency fcut; e) Extracting the envelope of said source band; f) Identifying a corresponding target band below said critical frequency fcrit; g) Extracting the phase of said target band; h) Combining the envelope of said source band with the phase of said target band. This has the advantage of increasing the sound quality, and the potential to further improve speech intelligibility in frequency transposition, e.g. frequency lowering systems. The invention may e.g. be used in communication devices, such as telephones, or listening devices, e.g. hearing instruments, headsets, head phones, active ear protection devices or combinations thereof.

Ultrasonic and multimodality assisted hearing

Speech is modulated and processed to provide a signal that is intelligible in high noise environments. Also, a device (and method of using said device) for improving the perception of acoustic signals comprising non-vocal patterns such as music is presented which utilizes high-frequency carriers in conjunction with signal modulation. Finally, a signal containing acoustic information is presented to a listener using multiple modalities including ultrasonic perception via brain demodulation, air-conduction, and tactile stimulation to provide an enhanced perception of sound.

A method and device for constructing a cross-platform software operating environment

Disclosed are a method and an apparatus for constructing a cross-platform software running environment. The method comprises: establishing an entrance of a cross-platform software running environment with a binary boot file; starting a decompression module, and executing a decompression operation on a core compilation and interpretation and graphics environment module; executing a decompression operation on a cross-platform visual software installation module; invoking the decompression module, and executing a decompression operation on a platform independent module and a multi-platform sharing module; executing a decompression operation on an extended compilation and interpretation and graphics environment module; and setting an environment variable of software installation package running according to difference among different system platforms, starting a visual software installation package interface, and executing visual installation of a cross-platform software installation package according to the visual software installation package interface. In the present invention, the use of a cross-platform software installation package facilitates reduction of the size of the software installation package and reduction of the capacity demand for a device storage module.
