A monitoring system identifies a wet diaper by embedding an inexpensive disposable passive humidity sensor, which may be formed of conductive ink, and attaching to the outside of the diaper a detachable transmitting module that is triggered into transmission by the humidity sensor. The transmitting module is sealed and transferable from the wet diaper to a dry one. Uniquely coded data is wirelessly transmitted to a remote receiver. The receiver may be a battery powered portable unit carried by the baby's guardian. In a day care center a multiple function receiver can identify any of several diapers. In hospitals, several strategically located receivers are each capable of recognizing and reporting any wet diaper within its range to a central computer. Low cost and long range are achieved by using a detachable and transportable active transmitter that is not discarded with the wet diaper and therefore can be re-used. False transmissions are prevented by a confirmatory resistance.

Maneuvering system having inner force sense presenting function

ActiveUS20100139436A1Easy to operateHighly accurate and broadband positional controlMechanical apparatusJointsElectricityRange of motion
A compact, lightweight manipulation system that excels in operability and has a force feedback capability is provided. When automatic operation of a slave manipulator105 that follows manual operation of a master manipulator 101 is bilaterally controlled by means of communication, the force acting on the slave manipulator is fed back to the master manipulator by operating the master manipulator primarily under electrically-driven speed control and the slave manipulator primarily under pneumatically-driven force control. Therefore, in the master manipulator, it is not necessary to compensate for the dynamics and the self-weight of the master manipulator in the motion range of a user, allowing highly accurate, broadband positional control, which is specific to an electrically-driven system, and in the slave manipulator, nonlinearity characteristics specific to a pneumatically-driven system presents passive softness, provides a high mass-to-output ratio, and produces a large force.

High viscosity antibacterials

An antibacterial fluid may be applied to a tubular medical cannula for access to a patient. The fluid comprises a typically metabolizable antibacterial formulation having a viscosity of at least about 5,000 cp. The cannula may then be inserted into the patient with an increased lubricity for a reduction of pain, while at the same time, unlike silicones, preferred materials do not readily accumulate in the patient. The tubular medical cannula may be a rigid, hollow needle, sharp or blunt, a spike, or a flexible catheter. Also, the viscous antibacterial fluid may be used to lock a catheter or other cannula while implanted in the patient, for storage purposes. The formulation is typically an alcohol plus a viscosity increasing agent.

Single use sterile slit impact sampling cassette with rotatable capture tray

A single use sterile slit impact sampling cassette with rotatable capture tray for recovering particulate matter from ambient air, having a lid with a slit shaped air inlet, dish with an air outlet, and capture tray. The dish and lid assemble to form a sealed sample chamber, which houses the capture tray. The assembled cassette is sterile packaged with its inlet and outlet covered before use. The cassette is placed on a base for operation, which supplies the required vacuum for sampling, and rotational means for the capture tray. Air drawn into the air inlet is accelerated to a velocity that ensures impingement, or entrainment of particulate matter from the sampled air volume onto, or within the capture media. The sampled air volume is evacuated from the sample chamber through an air outlet. The cassette is then removed from the operative base, and then may be analyzed for the target contaminants.
