Method and apparatus for caged stent delivery

A method and apparatus for caged stent delivery is provided herein. The device can be used to position and deliver any type of stent to a preselected treatment site within an intraluminal cavity. The device comprises a tubular portion, a plurality of arms attached to the distal end of the tubular portion, and a mechanism to open the arms. In operation, the caged device carries a stent in a constricted form to the treatment site for deployment. The arms of the cage are then opened, the stent released and deployed, and the device withdrawn. Several methods are provided to open the arms, including various pullwires, a piston, an electrolytic joint, and an activator. The arms may be constructed of a shape memory alloy and opened when shape memory behavior is effected. The device may be used with conventional catheters or used with a stent-loaded guidewire.

Prosthetic implant and method

An implant having a first member having a first elongated channel and a second member having a second elongated concave channel that becomes generally opposed when the first and second members are mounted to a first and second vertebra. A ball bearing is received in each of the channels to both separate and maintain a predetermined distance between the first and second member and also to facilitate movement in a plane that intersects an axis of the spinal column. The ball bearing is seated in and cooperates with the channels to permit pivotal movement about a plurality of axes. A method for replacing a disc is also shown using the implant.

First and second stent engaging arms and a pusher arm extend distally of the tubular portion. The first and second engaging arms configured to constrain the stent in an area between the arms and the pusher arm configured to contact the proximal portion of the stent. The engaging arms are movable between a closed stent constraining position and an open stent release position. The delivery system can also be used to deliver other vascular implants.

The gear case is coupled with the differential housing and positioned such that the center plane intersects the gear case.

System and method for processing substrates with detachable mask

Apparatus and methods are provided that enable processing of patterned layers on substrates using a detachable mask. Unlike prior art where the mask is formed directly over the substrate, according to aspects of the invention the mask is made independently of the substrate. During use, the mask is positioned in close proximity or in contact with the substrate so as to expose only portions of the substrate to processing, e.g., sputtering or etch. Once the processing is completed, the mask is moved away from the substrate and may be used for another substrate. The substrate may be cycled for a given number of substrates and then be removed for cleaning or disposal.

An angle measuring device with two pivotable arms connected at a common point is disclosed. The first arm contains a rigidly linked shaft which connects the first arm to a second arm rotatable relative to the first arm. A first electronic sensor, such as a magnetic rotary encoder, determines the angle between the arms. Optionally, a second electronic sensor, such as an accelerometer, determines the angle of orientation of an arm with reference to the plane of the Earth. The microcontroller can be used to aggregate the output of the magnetic rotary encoder with the accelerometers, so as to calculate the angle from the plane of the Earth up to the first arm of the angle measuring device.

The low-temperature plasma generator comprises a copper rod, a generator cavity and a metallic mesh. The shape of the copper rod is the same with that of the generator cavity, and the copper rod is arranged in the generator cavity; both ends of the copper rod are sealed and fixed by positioning stoppers, and a through hole used for installing an aeration pipe is formed in each positioning stopper; and the metallic mesh wraps the outer surface of the generator cavity, and is used as a grounded negative electrode so as to ensure normal discharging, and fixes the generator cavity. During operation, the copper rod is connected to a high-voltage power source positive electrode by a positive electrode wiring head, the metallic mesh is connected to a high-voltage power source negative electrode by an external high-voltage wire, and after the generator is electrified, violet low-temperature plasma is generated in a slit between the copper rod and the generator cavity, and the generation amount of the low-temperature plasma is increased. When a plurality of low temperature plasma generators are connected in parallel, a space utilization rate can be improved, and the usage amount of medium materials and negative materials can be reduced.
