A usage based pattern authenticator for monitoring and reporting on user usage patterns in an operating system using a set of security rules and user usage patterns. This computer system security tool authenticates users at the operating system level in multi-user operating systems. It supports system administrators in limiting the ability of unauthorized users to disrupt system operations using a neural network and set of rules to track usage patterns and flag suspicious activity on the system. The data collection mode collects and stores usage patterns of authenticated users. The training mode trains an artificial neural network and sets the interconnection weights of the network. The production mode monitors and reports on usage patterns, and optionally performs automatic responses when confronted with non-authenticated users.

The circulation chamber is defined within the tip body between the distal end of the flexible tubular housing and the optical window. The optical waveguide is mounted within a first of said lumens, wherein a distal end of the optical waveguide is exposed within the circulation chamber. The laser apparatus is attached to the energy delivery apparatus in a manner enabling laser light to be supplied to and transmitted by the optical waveguide. The cooling medium supply apparatus is attached to the energy delivery apparatus in a manner enabling cooling medium to be circulated through the circulation chamber.

The present invention is directed to methods of cryopreserving cells and cryopreserved cells prepared according to the methods. In specific embodiments, the method comprises combining cells with a cross-linked hydrogel matrix in particulate form, the matrix comprising a polyglycan cross-linked to a polypeptide and subjecting the combination to cryopreservation conditions. In further embodiments, the invention provides cell-seeded compositions comprising cells and a cross-linked bioactive hydrogel matrix in particulate form, the matrix comprising a polyglycan cross-linked to a polypeptide, wherein the composition has been subjected to cryopreservation conditions. The cryopreserved cells can be thawed and used in methods of treatment without the need for intervening steps to make the cells viable for in vivo use.

A system and method for developing customized apparatus for use in one or more surgical procedures is disclosed. The system and method incorporates a patient's unique anatomical features or morphology. According to a preferred embodiment, the customized apparatus comprises a plurality of complementary surfaces. Thus, each apparatus may be matched and oriented around the patient's own anatomy, and may further provide any desired axial alignments or insertional trajectories. In an alternate embodiment, the apparatus may further be aligned and/or matched with at least one other apparatus used during the surgical procedure.

A kit and needle assembly for reconstituting a quantity of a lyophilized pharmaceutical. The kit of the invention may include a reconstituting appliance having a non-transparent needle covering portion with a hollow adapted to receive the inserted stoppered end of the injection pen cartridge, which needle covering portion extends around a side-firing cannula to hide the cannula from side view. A shiftable alignment member retained within the needle covering portion at a first axial position, and shiftable to a second axial position when abutted by the injection pen cartridge during its insertion, may be included. The kit includes an injection pen cartridge including a barrel filled with a quantity of a lyophilized drug, a slidable plunger used during pen operation to eject the reconstituted drug, and a stopper penetrable by the cannula during drug reconstituting. The needle assembly of the invention may include a cannula defining an axial passage therethrough in communication with a reservoir of diluent fluid. The distal end of the cannula terminates in a closed piercing tip, and is provided with a side port, in communication with the axial passage, which is configured to direct fluid passing through it in a direction diverging from the axis of the cannula. A command producing unit produces, upon the perception of the collision of a hand with an obstacle, a reversing signal for reversing a moving direction in which the hand is being moved by a motor and a position maintaining command requesting maintaining the hand at a position with respect to a direction perpendicular to the moving direction to which the hand has been displaced by the collision. After the detection of the collision of the hand with the obstacle, the hand is retracted maintaining the hand at the position to which the hand has been dislocated by the collision to separate the hand from the obstacle. Thus a pushing force exerted by the hand on the obstacle in the direction perpendicular to the moving direction is suppressed while the hand is separated from the obstacle.
