Light emitting diode (LED) based street light and other lighting applications

An LED lamp module for use with a threaded electrical socket connector is provided, which includes an LED light engine with a first electrical connector, a second electrical connector having a first end electrically engagable with the first electrical connector and a second end having a threaded outer surface compatible with a threaded electrical socket connector. The LED lamp module further comprises a sleeve surrounding the first electrical connector and the first end such that the sleeve allows for relative rotation between the first electrical connector and the first end in a loosened state, and restricts relative rotation between the first electrical connector and the first end in a tightened state. A method for installing a retrofit LED lamp module in a housing which physically restricts full rotation of an LED light engine is also provided. The method includes connecting a first electrical connector to a second electrical connector, wherein the first electrical connector is attached to an LED light engine, and wherein the second electrical connector further comprises a first end electrically engagable with the first electrical connector, and a second end having a threaded outer surface compatible with a threaded electrical socket connector. The method further comprises tightening this connection via a sleeve surrounding the first electrical connector and the first end such that the sleeve allows for relative rotation between the first electrical connector and the first end in a loosened state, and restricts relative rotation between the first electrical connector and the first end in a tightened state.

Wireless surveillance system

A surveillance system utilizing existing street lighting equipment. In a preferred embodiment, surveillance units include a small camera and a wireless transceiver and a connector that allows the surveillance units to plug into an existing outdoor light in the place of the outdoor lights' photo cells. In this preferred embodiment communication between the lights and the cellular station is at frequencies of about 2.4 GHz and uses the 802.11b protocol that permits transmission of data at up to 11 million bits per second or the 802.11g protocol that permits transmission of data at up to 54 million bits per second. The cellular stations then communicates with the central monitoring station at a frequency range of 71-76 GHz and 81 to 86 GHz that permits transmission of data at about 1.0 billion bits per second. In an example system, with 1,000 surveillance cameras (each camera unit plugged into the photocell receptacle of a street light), 100 camera units communicate with each of 10 cellular stations and the 10 cellular stations communicate with a single central monitoring station.

Method and device for detection of vehicle at night and method and device for tracking of vehicle at night

The invention provides a method and a device for detection of a vehicle at night. The method and the device for the detection of the vehicle at night are used for improving accuracy of the detection of the vehicle at night. Correspondingly, the invention further provides a method and a device for tracking of the vehicle at night. The method and the device for the tracking of the vehicle at night are used for improving the accuracy of the tracking of the vehicle at night. The method for the detection of the vehicle at night comprises the steps of calibrating an image of the vehicle and obtaining calibration rate, calculating the connection domain of the image of the vehicle, carrying out car light extraction on the connection domain by means of a taillight model and obtaining effective car lights; and pairing all the effective lights according to the calibration rate and obtaining car light pairs, grouping the car light pairs belonging to the same vehicle and using the taillight in the car light pair as a detection target and carrying out detection. According to the method for the detection of the vehicle at night, the extraction of the car light is innovatively improved, interference to the extraction of the car light of road reflection rays produced by street lights on both sides of a road and reflection rays of the road is reduced, and the accuracy of the detection of the vehicle at night is improved.

Environmental-data-based lighting system and method for fuzzy control of street lamps in different periods

The invention discloses an environmental-data-based lighting system and method for fuzzy control of street lamps in different periods. The system comprises three components: single lamp controllers, a concentrated controller and a remote monitoring center. Combined with ZigBee short-range wireless network technology and GPRS remote wireless network technology, the system and method can achieve remote control on and information exchange among the street lights. In view of the fact that the control strategy for the street light control technology is too simple to meet the requirement of on-demand lighting under complicated and changing environmental factors, the invention provides an environmental-data-based lighting system and method for fuzzy control of street lamps in different periods. In the system and the method, the influencing factors regarding the environmental luminance at dawn and the dusk as well as the vehicles and pedestrians on street in the middle of the night are considered respectively, and through the fuzzy control methods adopted in different periods, it is possible to improve the control precision of the system so as to meet the dual requirement of both lighting quality and power conserving. According to the invention, it is not only possible to realize fuzzy control to the lighting of street lamps in different periods based on environmental data, but also possible to detect the power consumption of each street lamp, the tilting of a lamp post, and the road water in real time.

LED lamp for street lighting

The present invention refers to a lamp for public lighting system that works with high power LEDs, for the direct substitution of the present sodium vapour or metal halides lamps, using the same light fixtures OV type and / or similar with an integrated power supply and a standard socket Mogul-39 or Edison-39. And that improves substantially my previous invention WO2008100124 as far as the cost of manufacture and easiness of assembly, better luminance distribution; lower operating temperature and more lumens per watt, besides to be prepared for the new generations of LEDs. Characterized by having a standard electrical connector that allows the lamp to be coupled any type of street light fixtures or luminaries; a base within it has a connector to couple it into a dissipating ring that has external and internal teeth to dissipate the heat generated by a power supply used to regulate and to convert the originating electrical energy of the network; a cover to close to the dissipating ring and to protect the electronic board. The Lamp of high power LEDs has a heat dissipating platform equipped with heads with external and internal teeth, and wall-bases that also are used to dissipate the heat generated by the high power LEDs when they operate; finally the lamp of high power LEDs has a single protective lens to direct the light emitted by the LEDs in a distribution very similar to the type I that is considered to be optimum for the illumination of streets and avenues giving therefore a greater pole to pole distance between the lights.
