105 results about "Fuse Device Component" patented technology

An electrical device designed to stop the flow of current when an overload condition exists.

Fuse assembly

The fuse assembly contains a first casing member with a first chamber, and a second casing member with a second chamber. An enclosed space is thereby formed by joining the first and second casing members together. A disconnection member is sandwiched between the first and second casing members. The disconnection member contains two electrodes and a fuse element between the two electrodes. Each electrode contains a first lateral section, a vertical section, and a second lateral section, jointly and integrally forming a C-like shape. The electrodes are positioned at two opposing ends of the second casing member and the fuse element is housed in the enclosed space. The enclosed space allows the fuse element to break off completely, thereby avoiding electrical arc and achieving enhanced usage safety.

Optically Guided Munition Control System and Method

An optically guided munition and control system has a replacement fuse assembly mounted on the front of a munition body or shell casing. An optical seeker subsystem detects an illuminated target and supplies signals to a processor. The processor develops steering commands sent to a flight control subsystem having a plurality of guidance canards which are actuated by drive motors through gear assemblies. The roll of the munition is established and left / right and up / down steering commands are sent to the canard drive motors based upon the optical seeker subsystem detection of the target illuminator. Range adjustment is based upon bore sight lockdown angle and cross range control is based upon left / right centering error. A code is contained in the optical radiation received from the illuminated target which must be validated by a preset code in the system processor to arm the munition.

Tubular fuse component with end caps with a hermetically sealing plastic sealing body insert

A fuse component (1) has a fusible conductor (2) which extends in a gas filled cavity (3) within a cylindrical tube (4) between two end surfaces (8). Two end caps (5) of an electrically conductive material are applied to the ends of the tube (4) so that an electrical contact is produced with the fusible conductor (2). At at least one of the two ends of the tube (4), a sealing body of a plastic material, which is predominantly elastically compressible but at the same time capable of creep, is introduced into a gap between the base of the end cap and the end surface (8) of the tube (4) and into a portion of the cavity adjacent to the cap base. The sealing body has been compressed between the end surface (8) and the cap base during the manufacture of the fuse component (1) when positioning the end cap (5). The compressed sealing body (7) attempts to expand again, whereby it expands principally into the cavity (3). If a sudden pressure rise occurs in the cavity shortly after its introduction during the manufacturing process as a result of a temperature increase, it can occur that this overpressure balances out into the external surroundings via a temporarily formed passage between the tube, the sealing body and the end cap. The passage which is formed is then sealed again as a result of the ability of the plastic material to creep.

Aluminum reduction cell fuse technology

A method of taking inoperative pot online using fuse in an aluminium manufacturing plant operating on electrolysis process is disclosed. The manufacturing plant comprises of plurality of electrolysis cells or pots connected in series. Some of the pots are kept off line during start up of the plant by shorting the risers of the non running pots to the cathode bus bar (31) by shorted joints (11). The method comprises, connecting fuse assemblies in parallel with the shorted joints; inserting insulating insert plates between the risers and the short circuit bus bars and securing the insulating insert plates to isolate the short circuit bus bars from the risers (14) such that the total rated current passes through the fuse assemblies. The fuse elements in the fuse assemblies melt within about 8 to 10 minutes, completely isolating the short circuit bus bars from the risers such that the risers now feed the current to the anode assemblies of the non running pot. Feeding of charge to the non running pot is the started, thus taking the non running pot on line.

Environmentally sealed electrical housing assembly with integrated connector

An environmentally sealed electrical housing assembly with an integrated connector and a method for manufacturing same is presented. The assembly includes a non-accessible electrical component, such an electromechanical relay, and a plurality of terminals connected to a circuit board. A dielectric housing encases the non-accessible electrical component. The housing is in intimate contact with the non-accessible electrical component, thereby sealing it from the environment. The housing defines an integral perimeter wall that surrounds the terminals, forming a connector shroud. Removable electrical components, such as fuse assemblies, may be attached to the terminals inside the shroud. When a sealed mating connector is attached to the housing, the removable components are also sealed from the environment. The assembly allows distribution of power switching functions and circuit protection to be distributed to a location near the electrical load instead of a central location, such as a bussed electrical center.
