The embryo transfer procedure starts by placing a speculum in the vagina to visualize the cervix, which is cleansed with saline solution or culture media. A soft transfer catheter is loaded with the embryos and handed to the clinician after confirmation of the patient’s identity.

Method for genetic testing of human embryos for chromosome abnormalities, segregating genetic disorders with or without a known mutation and mitochondrial disorders following in vitro fertilization (IVF), embryo culture and embryo biopsy

We describe a method for interrogating the content and primary structure of DNA by microarray analyses and to provide comprehensive genetic screening and diagnostics prior to embryo transfer within an IVF setting. We will accomplish this by the following claims: 1) an optimized embryo grading system, 2) a less invasive embryo biopsy with reduced cellular contamination, 3) an optimized DNA amplification protocol for single cells, 4) identify aneuploidy and structural chromosome abnormalities using microarrays, 5) identifying sub-telomeric chromosome rearrangements, 6) a modified DNA fingerprinting protocol, 7) determine imprinting and epigenetic changes in developing embryos, 8) performing genome-wide scans to clarify / diagnose multi-factorial genetic disease and to determine genotype / haplotype patterns that may predict future disease, 9) determining single gene disorders with or without a known DNA mutation, 10) determining mtDNA mutations and / or the combination of mtDNA and genomic (nuclear) DNA aberrations that cause genetic disease.

Container assembly for intravaginal fertilization and culture and embryo transfer and method of intravaginal fertilization and culture employing such a container

An intravaginal fertilization and culture container includes a main chamber and a microchamber. A culture medium, one or more oocytes and sperm are introduced through an access opening having an associated resealable closure device. The container is enveloped in a capsule of soft elastic material prior to lodgment in the posterior fornix. A loop on one capsule part adapts the length to anatomic variations. The microchamber has a channel which receives the catheter tip to facilitate embryo retrieval while eliminating risk of injury thereto. The microchamber permits embryos to be microscopically inspected in situ before transfer to the uterine cavity.

Catheter with snap on feature

An embryo transfer catheter with a protective sheath is disclosed. The use of a protective sheath shields a guide catheter from cervical mucus. The retracted open flaps of the outer protective sheath draw the mucus and blood away from the inner guide catheter. This allows an inner embryo transfer sheath to enter the uterus unobstructed. The embryo is then transferred to the uterus by means of fluid pressure with a culture medium. The protective sheath may be snap fit onto the guide catheter. The sheaths and catheters may be manufactured in a variety of lengths for individual convenience and then snap-fit onto each other for better control during an embryo implantation procedure. Other catheters and related instruments may also be manufactured with snap-on features.

Embryo pregnancy result prediction device based on multimodality

The invention discloses an embryo pregnancy result prediction device based on multimodality, and belongs to the field of medical artificial intelligence. Firstly, images of embryos developed to blastocyst stage after in vitro fertilization and corresponding pregnancy results are obtained, three pictures of blastocyst, inner cell mass and trophoblast cells of embryos are obtained, and the pregnancyresults are labeled as labels, and data are labeled as raw data. Then the image is smoothed with Gaussian kernel function to remove part of the noise, and then the image is normalized. The image is then data-augmented as input data. Multimodal method is used to fuse the images of the three images so that the input image contains three evaluation features. the fused image is passed to ResNet-50 for training, that network is optimized according to the target tag, and and is iterated until the training is complete. With the model, three images can be taken before embryo transfer to predict the pregnancy outcome, and the embryo with high success rate can be selected according to the output results, which can improve the final pregnancy success rate.
