Adsorption refrigeration is very similar to absorption refrigeration (note that the second letter is different). The difference is that in adsorption refrigeration, the working fluid (refrigerant or adsorbate) molecules adsorb onto the surface of a solid instead of dissolving into a fluid. The step in which heat is added results in working fluid molecules desorbing from the solid. The adsorbate could be gaseous state, ammonia, water, methanol, etc, while the adsorbent is a solid, such as silicone gel, activated carbon, zeolite, unlike in the absorption refrigeration where absorbent is usually liquid. With these differences in mind, most of what is said in the absorption refrigerator article applies to adsorption refrigerators.

The invention provides a carbon dioxide capturing and liquefying process stepwise utilizing smoke waste heat and belongs to the technical field of separation. The process is based on chemical absorption, absorption refrigeration and compression condensation; by stepwise utilizing the smoke waste heat, the smoke waste heat is used as a heat source for absorbent regeneration and then used as a heat source for absorption refrigeration, heat consumed during absorbent regeneration is utilized for the second time, and low-temperature heat carried by carbon dioxide at the top of a regeneration tower is used as a heat source for absorption refrigeration, so that cost of carbon dioxide capturing and liquefying is reduced effectively, recycling of carbon dioxide and implementing of carbon emission reduction are facilitated. The method of the invention effectively relieves the influences of global warming on the permafrost foundation. The device of the invention is strong in practicability, simple in structure and conveniently buried, and can solve the problem that a thermal rod cannot work in warm seasons.

The metal organic framework adsorbent for solar adsorption refrigeration is a nanocomposite made from a metal organic framework matrix having carbon nanotubes incorporated therein. Preferably, the metal organic framework is composed of MIL-100(Fe), and the carbon nanotubes are functionalized with carboxyl (COOH) groups. In order to prepare the metal organic framework adsorbent, carbon nanotubes functionalized with carboxyl (COOH) groups are first added to an aqueous solution of a precursor salt, such as ferric trinitrate nonahydrate (Fe(NO3)3·9H2O), to form a first mixture. The first mixture is then sonicated and a 1,3,5 benzenetricarboxylic acid ligand is added thereto to form a second mixture. The second mixture is then sonicated and heated, and the metal organic framework nanocomposite is separated therefrom, preferably as a powder.

The invention discloses a mass recovery type adsorption refrigeration air-conditioning system on the basis of phase-change heat storage. The mass recovery type adsorption refrigeration air-conditioning system comprises a phase-change heat storage and exchange device, a continuous mass recovery type solid adsorption refrigeration system and a cooling water circulating system. The phase-change heat storage and exchange device comprises a plurality of rows of coiled pipes, heat-conducting media and phase-change heat storage materials, and the multiple rows of coiled pipes are arranged parallelly; the continuous mass recovery type solid adsorption refrigeration system comprises double adsorption beds, a condenser, a throttle valve, an evaporator, a reverser and a mass transfer pipeline; the reverser realizes connecting and reversing effects for the double adsorption beds, the condenser, the throttle valve and the evaporator; the cooling water circulating system comprises a cooling water tank, a circulating water pump, a radiator and circulating working media. Method of operating an adsorption refrigeration system

A method is provided of operating an adsorption refrigeration system. The system comprises a primary adsorption pump which is arranged in communication with a primary chamber containing coolant, a secondary adsorption pump and a high fluid impedance conduit which places the secondary adsorption pump and primary chamber into communication. The method comprises saturating the primary and secondary adsorption pumps with coolant whilst each pump is at its respective operational temperature. The pumps are then heated above their operational temperatures to desorb the coolant such that the coolant pressure in the primary chamber and the secondary adsorption pump substantially equalises through the conduit whilst the primary chamber is cooled. The secondary adsorption pump is then cooled causing coolant gas to be adsorbed and therefore a reduction in temperature and pressure of the coolant in the primary chamber is effected. The primary adsorption pump is then cooled to an operational temperature causing adsorption of the coolant and therefore a reduction in temperature and pressure of the coolant in the primary chamber.
