Method and system for building a report for execution against a data store

ActiveUS20050039033A1Minimizes learning curveQuickly and easily understandDigital data processing detailsUnauthorized memory use protectionComputer usersData access
A data query and reporting method and system are provided. The method and system allow non-technical computer users to build and execute complex database queries. The method and system accommodate the need for a simple, easy-to-understand interactive and iterative means for generating and validating database queries. The method and system reduce the complexity and costs associated with retrieving useful information for organizations of all sizes, especially smaller businesses. The method and system support a robust security model, enabling organizations to protect sensitive data while providing broad data access.

Method for providing product safety to a manufactured item using a multiple use verification code

In a method and system for providing product safety to a manufactured item, a verification code is associated with the manufactured item. The verification code is initialized to an unvalidated state. The manufactured item is then supplied with this verification code hidden from view. The verification code may be exposed by a user and submitted to a validation service for validation for any number of occasions. In response to the validation service receiving the verification code for validation, the user is provided with an indicator of a current state of the verification code. A first successful validation of the verification code is then used as an event that triggers a state transition of the verification code from the unvalidated state to a validated state.

Systems and Methods for Reducing RF Power or Adjusting Flip Angles During an MRI for Patients with Implantable Medical Devices

Techniques are provided for controlling magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) systems for imaging patients having implantable medical devices. In one example, a scaling factor is determined based on maximum local specific absorption rate (SAR) values for patients with implants and for patients without implants. The MRI determines the radio-frequency (RF) power and flip angle sequences to be used for a given patient, without regard to the presence of an implanted device. However, for patients with implanted devices, the MRI reduces its RF power or adjusts its flip angle sequences based on the scaling factor so as to ensure that the local SAR within the patient does not exceed acceptable levels. In other examples, rather than reducing the RF power of the MRI or adjusting the flip angles, blankets or pads formed of RF power attenuating materials, such as dielectrics, are positioned around the patient near the implantable device, to reduce the RF power incident tissues adjacent the device.

Friction-Joining Steel Plate and Friction-Joining Structure

Since a portion of projected streaks on a friction-joining steel plate 10 is provided with a Vickers hardness which is at least 3 times greater than that on the surface of steel plates IA and IB, the projected streaks are allowed to more easily enter into the steel plates IA and IB, and since a frictional resistance derived from a mechanical slip resistance of the thus entered projected streaks acts between the steel plates IA and IB, a marked increase is obtained in the friction coefficient between the steel plates IA and IB via the friction-joining steel plate 10. Consequently, a friction-joining structure is constituted by a slip resistance mechanism which can be easily validated from a theoretical or an experimental point of view and is also small in variance of the friction coefficient. Therefore, a friction coefficient used in design can be set at a high value with high accuracy to realize a rational design.
