Upstream only linecard with front end multiplexer for CMTS

An upstream line card including a digital or analog multiplexer front end circuit for a Cable Modem Termination System. Each upstream line card has only upstream receivers and allows a CMTS to share one or a handful of receiver chips to receive and recover data from a larger number of input cables coupled to the front end multiplexer. A control circuit for the multiplexer uses MAP data and burst assignment data and upstream mini-slot counts for each of the input cables to determine when a burst is about to arrive on a cable and cause appropriate switching by the multiplexer or crossbar switch. In some embodiments, there is only one RF channel circuit coupled to the output of the multiplexer, so the multiplexer is controlled to couple the input cable upon which the burst is expected to the single RF channel. In other embodiments, there are multiple RF channels coupled to the inputs of the multiplexer so the multiplexer is controlled to connect each input cable on which a burst is expected to an available RF channel. In some embodiments, the sample data generated by each RF channel is buffered and an arbiter picks one burst at a time for application to the input of a CMTS receiver or doles out bursts to different receivers. In other embodiments, no buffers or arbiter are used, and each RF channel has its own dedicated CMTS receiver.

This invention is to enable appropriate routing based on transition prediction of network traffic. This routing control method includes: reading out predicted utilization transition data (e.g. utilization rate, or utilized bandwidth) associated with a received connection set-up request from a predicted utilization transition data storage storing said predicted utilization transition data for each resource (e.g. links between routers, or server) in a network in future; and selecting a resource satisfying a predetermined condition based on the read predicted utilization transition data. Thus, by using said predicted utilization transition data, an appropriate resource is identified in accordance with future time transition of the resource utilization rate, for example, and thereby, appropriate routing is possible. For example, when a link that a traffic volume will increase after a predetermined time exists, it is possible to judge that such a link is not used even when there are a lot of available bandwidths now.

A directivity switching instruction section 107 controls switching between directivities so as to maintain the same directivity after the reference signal is transmitted with a directivity until packet data is transmitted with a directivity. This makes it possible to receive packet data with high quality, improve efficiency of a radio frequency band and maximize communication path utilization efficiency.

In accordance with the present invention, there is provided a passenger accommodation arrangement for aircraft which provides both a highly efficient use of available aircraft space and a high level of comfort for passengers. In particular, the novel arrangement allows passengers to easily and comfortably switch between sitting and sleeping positions. The arrangement provides for multiple compartments arranged transversely with respect to the longitudinal dimension of the aircraft. Each compartment includes a stair and multiple, individual passenger accommodation units arranged one above another on each side of the stair. Each unit contains structure which allows a passenger to switch between a sitting position, in which the passenger is supported on a seat surface, and a fully reposed position in which the passenger is supported on a substantially flat, horizontal sleeping surface. Conversion between sitting and sleeping positions is enabled by moveable sections which form part of the passenger bed in a first position and part of the passenger seat in a second position. Passenger units which are vertically adjacent to one another may include complementary and vertically aligned formations to optimize the usable height of the units.

The workbench includes a top comprising two opposed faces with a motor support structure associated with one face for holding a motor configured to receive one of a router element and a shaping element. The top is pivotally associated with a top support structure thereby allowing the workbench to be selectably positioned in at least one of two work mode configurations. The top dimensions and support structure configuration is selected so that a work piece may be moved across the top surface without interference for the support structure. The motor support structure is configured for a minimum vertical profile while providing motor movement relative to the work piece. The system may further comprise wireless technology for controlling the motor movement. The workbench apparatus without the routing support structure can be used for attaching and storing a plurality of devices.

The biomass from which substances extractible by hot water are removed is pre-treated in the condition where xylan yield rate is maximized, thus achieving maximum inhibition of the generation of over-decomposed products of sugar. Subsequently, fermentable sugar for culturing various industrial fermented bacteria can be prepared in an inexpensive manner by only concentrating, using a separator membrane, the sugar solution obtained by an enzymatic saccharification of the pre-treated solid content obtained by a solid-liquid separation without washing the solid content with water.
