Low cost high-pressure sensor

A pressure sensing apparatus including a thin disc of a metal having a ceramic material layer and piezoresistive elements formed thereon. A surface of the disc is bonded to a diaphragm assembly on a pressure port base constructed of a low cost metal. The bonding process is performed at low temperatures, (<700° C.), so that the diaphragm assembly and pressure port do not require high temperature corrosion resistance, and can thus be formed of less expensive materials. The inventive apparatus provides a lower cost alternative to conventional high pressure sensors since less material is used, less expensive materials are used, and fabrication is less complex. The inventive apparatus is also more reliable and exhibits greater thermal stability than conventional high pressure sensors.

A method and structure for a semiconductor device can include a chip support having a one or more elongated structures formed in the chip support The elongated structures, which have a width and a length greater than the width, receive chip attach material such as epoxy during a chip attach process. Because each elongated feature is oriented such that an axis through a center of the length of each elongated feature points to a center of the chip support, the chip attach adhesive flows into the feature with minimal trapping of air. Trapped air can cause delamination of the chip from the chip support, or cracking of the chip and device failure.

This invention relates to a vessel suitable for insertion as a by-pass into new or pre-existing fluid flow paths, such as water lines for swimming pools. The vessel is adapted to receive and contain a wide variety of different types of equipment, which can typically be in the form of a cartridge, and contact the fluid passing through the vessel with the equipment in a way that reduces or minimizes the effect of pressure spikes in the water line, and more efficiently moves the water through the vessel and back into the fluid flow path or conduit. The invention also relates to a method for treating fluids using such a vessel.

Shipping and display carton

InactiveUS20060278691A1Simple designPrevent vertical stack failureRigid containersCardboardHorizontal force
A product tray having shrink-wrapped plastic stacked, shipped and sold on pallets due to an improved design made from a single blank of cardboard or other package material. Such improved product tray resists horizontal shifting and prevents vertical stack failures when exposed to horizontal forces during shipping. Each improved product tray supports a comparable compressive load while being composed of less material or less expensive material as compared with prior art designs. Such improved product trays may be stacked, shipped, and sold on pallets without first packaging them into boxes, and without the substantial additional labor normally required for trays made according to the prior art, at warehouse club stores and other outlets.

Airvest human body cooling apparatus

ActiveUS20050055753A1Inefficient coolingImprove cooling effectProtective garmentEngineeringCold air
The proposed invention is a method of cooling the human body using compressed air in the manner described by U.S. Pat. No. 5,438,707 without the necessity of directing the nozzles of the air jets directly at the body. The proposed invention directs the air jets in a parallel manner to the surface of the body thus cooling by both the expansion of the gas and evaporative cooling enhanced by larger contact with said surface of the body. Said air jets also cool by a coanda effect that entraps large amounts of air and pulls it along the surface of the body thus increasing evaporation. The present invention also entraps the cold air within a wind resistant cover replacing the mesh outer cover design.

Abrasive media blasting method and apparatus

An improved media blasting system that separates the fluid velocity development, the introduction of media and the acceleration of media from each other. The preferred arrangement has a supersonic nozzle that produces supersonic velocity air discharged into a coupled acceleration chamber. No shot travels within the supersonic nozzle, so no wear of the supersonic nozzle interior occurs, thus making the nozzle shorter, of plain metal alloys, less expensive to manufacture and lasting indefinitely. The shot is separately introduced into the acceleration chamber thus avoiding it's otherwise limitation to the air mass flow rate in the air supply hose or pipe. Thus the average velocity used to transfer momentum to the shot is much higher than the lower average velocity currently available within other blasting nozzles, which occurs from throat to exit. Further, the nozzle design parameters are selected to match the higher maximum power output of a selected air compressor and are not constrained by nozzle wear factors requiring frequent replacement of the nozzle for reasons of nozzle wear.
