3D printing using spiral buildup

Methods, devices and systems for efficient 3D printing that address conventional inefficiencies while utilizing a single compact device are set forth. Some embodiments utilize a circular-shaped build area revolving symmetrically around a single center point utilizing a continuous helical printing process. In one embodiment a liquid photopolymer for solidification is deposited on a build platform to form the physical object The Build platform is continuously rotated and simultaneously raised in a gradual programmed manner. Focused from below the platform produces a single continuous “layer” of material deposited and bonded in a helical fashion.

Needle protection apparatus used with a vial

A needle protection device for a vial has a collar at the base of which a number of finger grippers extend. The collar is placed about the hub of a vial and pushed therealong until the gripper fingers snap over the bottom surface of the needle hub so as to fixedly couple the collar to the needle hub of the vial. Flexibly extending from the collar is a housing that is pivotable to a position in alignment along the longitudinal axis of the vial for enveloping the needle, to thereby prevent the needle from being exposed to the environment. A hook integrated to the inside of the housing ensures that the needle and the housing could no longer move relative to each other once the hook snaps over and traps the needle, as the housing is pivoted to its alignment position. For those vials that have a needle hub that extends smoothly from the vial, a second embodiment of the instant invention has, in place of the collar, a base that has two extending arms with coacting ends. Once the base is slipped over the vial and positioned appropriately therealong, the arms are pressed towards each other until the two coacting ends lock into place to thereby fixedly couple the base to the vial. A housing flexibly extending from the base is pivoted to a position in alignment with the longitudinal axis of the vial for enveloping a needle that extends from the hub of the vial.

3D printing using rotational components and improved light sources

Methods, devices and systems for efficient 3D printing that address conventional inefficiencies while utilizing a single compact device are set forth. Some embodiments utilize a circular-shaped build area revolving symmetrically around a single center point utilizing a continuous helical printing process. In some embodiments, vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) are utilized as an energy source for curing the print material. The VCSELs can be integrated with the print head and can form an array which can be staggered or linear. In some embodiments, the VCSELs (and the corresponding print head)can be connected to a rotating platform, which can rotate independently from the revolving build area. In some embodiments, a thermoelectric cooler and / or a fluid cooler can provide cooling to the VCSELS.

3D printing using spiral buildup and high viscosity build materials

A 3D printing system utilizes a circular-shaped build area revolving symmetrically around a single center point in a continuous helical printing process. A viscous, solidifyable liquid composition is deposited on a construction area where it is exposed to a solidifying medium to form a physical object that is attached to a build platform above and parallel to the construction zone. The build platform continuously rotates and simultaneously rises in a gradual programmed manner to continuously produce adhered layers of material deposited and bonded in a helical fashion. The construction area includes mechanisms to continuously remove therefrom excess build material not incorporated in the physical object formed.

Method, device and system for synchronizing of data providing for the handling of an interrupted synchronization process

The present invention provides a method, a network device and a system for allowing for resuming a preceding incomplete synchronization session is provided, wherein the preceding incomplete synchronization session has been interrupted during its performing. In principle the resuming of the preceding incomplete synchronization session is based on the following operations according to the inventive concept. A communication connection for synchronization of data between a first and a second device is establishing. The first and the second device comprise each a predefined set of data records to be synchronized. A first and a second update identifier are communicated between the first and the second device. The first update identifier specifies a preceding complete synchronization session having been performed between them and the second update identifier specifies a preceding incomplete synchronization session having been performed between them. Synchronization related information is exchanged between the first and the second device. The herein exchanged synchronization related information comprises that part of synchronization related information which has not been exchanged during the preceding incomplete synchronization session. Data in the first device and the second device is synchronized in accordance with the exchanged synchronization related information. The contents of the first update identifier is updated with the contents of the second update identifier.

Ocean wave-crest powered electrical generator in combination with pumped storage

An ocean wave-crest powered electrical generator comprises a buoyant vessel anchored to the sea floor by mooring chains. The vessel defines a substantial opening at the bow leading to a paddle wheel such that ocean wave crests flow past the paddle wheel while passing through the generator thereby capturing the power of the continuous wave crests passing through the bow opening. The paddle wheel transforms energy from the breaking wave crests into kinetic energy that in turn activates an electric power generator. The wave crest electrical generator is permanently moored near the beach and allowed to rise and fall with the tide thus allowing for a continuous flow of ocean waves to be converted into power. Pumped storage provides a sustained flow of energy that is easy to regulate and this can be accomplished in combination with “energetic marinas” by constructing a reservoir on top of a near-by cliff, hill or tall building.

Self-leveling in-situ device and method for passively removing oil from water wells

A simple and inexpensive device with no moving arts for removing from a well non-aqueous liquids, such as gasoline or crude oil, that accumulate on top of the water table in the well comprises a buoyant elongated member, such as a plastic tube sealed at both ends, and a hydrophobic sorbtive material preferably attached to the outside of the tube. The buoyant device is lowered into the well where it floats either in the non-aqueous liquids or in the water such that the sorbtive material is in contact with and absorbs the non-aqueous liquids from the surface of the water. The buoyant device is then removed from the well, the spent sorbtive material replaced with fresh sorbtive material and the device again lowered into the well for further removal of non-aqueous liquids.
