A drug delivery catheter suited for cardiac procedures including transmyocardial revascularization. A rotational handle device rotates a medical instrument for vascular treatment in a tubular form including a tube for insertion by guiding of a medical guide wire inside. After positioning and holding two tissue walls of adjacent lumens into apposition with a distally presented grasper of the instrument, a piercing tip of the anastomosis device is dispensed and inserted through the tissue walls before being allowed to relax to its tight coil shape, thereby forming the anastomosis attachment. The anastomosis device is released from the anastomosis introducer instrument, such as by fully dispensing its proximal end. Thereby, efficient single lumen anastomosis of gastrointestinal, bilatory, or other vessels may be achieved with a minimum of laparoscopic punctures, or perhaps performed fully as an endoscopic procedure.

A separate deliverable embolic protection device filter that attaches to a helical coil at a distal end of a conventional guide, for use in a blood vessel when an interventional procedure is being performed to capture any embolic material which may be created and released into the bloodstream during the procedure. The device includes a filter assembly with a proximal end and a distal end, and a guide wire connector attached to the distal end of the filter assembly. The guide wire connector is able to couple with the helical coil of the guide wire. A restraining sheath placed over the filter assembly in a coaxial arrangement maintains the filter assembly in a collapsed position and delivers the filter assembly separately to the helical coil of the guide wire, and then the guide wire connector is joined to the helical coil. The present invention provides implant devices configured to become anchored within tissue so that they do not migrate despite experiencing aggressive migration forces applied by the highly dynamic movement of muscle tissue that surrounds them. Additionally, methods for placing the devices so that they remain securely anchored within the tissue are provided. The devices are comprised of a flexible body, preferably formed from a helical wound spring. In a preferred embodiment the spring is wound from a ribbon-like filament having series of barbs or ridges formed along the proximal facing edge of the wound ribbon. The ribbon-like filament may be etched from a flat sheet of material, having barbs formed along one edge. The filament may then be wrapped into a helical coil shape to take the form of an implant having barbs formed along the proximally facing edge of each coil to resist migration.

A conductor assembly of the type which, when conducting current, generates a magnetic field or in which, in the presence of a changing magnetic field, a voltage is induced. According to an exemplary embodiment a conductor is positioned along a path of variable direction relative to a reference axis. The conductor has a width measurable along an outer surface thereof and along a series of different planes transverse to the path direction. The measured conductor width varies among the different planes. In one example, the conductor path is helical, positioned about the axis between turns of helical spaces, and the conductor width varies as a function of the azimuth angle.

Provided herein is an implantable device and an expansion apparatus, method and system for implantation of the implantable device. In some embodiments, the device may include a helical coil having a contracted state, adapted for radial expansion and longitudinal contraction to an expanded state. The helical coil in the contracted state is adapted for positioning at a target site having walls defining an opening and is operable to engage the walls of the opening at said target site in the expanded state. The helical coil may also have an inner surface proximal to the longitudinal axis of the helical coil and an outer surface distal to the longitudinal axis of the helical coil, wherein the inner surface is operable to engage a fastener in the expanded state and wherein the outer surface defines a plurality of teeth extending radially outward to engage the walls of the target site.
