Method and apparatus for creating a high efficiency surface mount illumination device for projecting electromagnetic radiation at a high angle from the surface normal

A marine lamp includes an LED and a heat sink that removes heat from the LED. A lens assembly is associated with the LED and collects the energy from the LED and compresses the light into a high intensity beam. The beam strikes a secondary reflective surface which spreads the light into a desired output distribution. In one particular application, the desired output distribution has a ring-like distribution with a primary light beam at approximately 60 degrees from mounting surface normal.

Vehicular lamp and method of manufacturing same

A vehicular lamp includes a lamp source, a lamp body accommodating the lamp source, and a lens attached to the lamp body. The lamp body has an abutment surface on the top portion of a peripheral wall, which is configured to rise in a direction of an optical axis of the light source along a peripheral edge of the lamp body. The abutment surface of the lamp body is configured to incline to the optical axis. Similary, the lens has an abutment surface corresponding to the abutment surface of the lamp body along a peripheral portion of the lens. In this case, the abutment surface of the lens is configured within the dimention of an outer surface of the lens so as not to protrude over the outer surface. The abutment surfaces of the lamp body and the lens are integrally jointed together by laser walding.

High intensity, strobed led micro-strip for microfilm imaging system and methods

A light source, suitable for use in a high-speed, continuous transport microfilm imaging system, includes an LED emitter element thermally coupled to a heat sink and is mounted within a light source housing. A light output opening in the light source housing, further defined by a narrow width light transfer channel, defines a narrow width active illumination area on the microfilm media. An optical diffusion plate, providing for a randomized directional distribution of light emitted by the LED emitter element, is mounted within the light source housing in an optical path extending between the light output opening and the LED emitter element. A switched current source is coupled to the LED emitter element to enable strobed operation synchronous with the periodic operation of a line imaging camera. The LED emitter element can be construed as a linear micro-strip array of LED elements. A cylindrical lens can be place in the optical path between the LED emitter element and diffusion plate to narrow and increase the intensity of light incident on and transmitted through the diffusion plate.

Method for exposing an object to light and exposure apparatus for performing the same

In a method for exposing an object to light and an exposure apparatus for performing the method, projection lights having image information may be produced. The projection lights may be projected onto the film on the substrate and travel along separately advancing paths. The advancing paths may not intersect with each other. To produce the projection light, illumination light beams proceeding along separately advancing paths may be produced. Thereafter, reticle patterns may transmit the illumination light beams. The reticle patterns may move in a first direction, and the substrate may move in a second direction opposite the first direction. The illumination light beams may be produced by separating an initial light. The projection lights may be projected onto the film at the same time or different times.

Error Correction Circuit for Data Communication Providing Parallelizable Linear Programming Decoding

An error detection / correction system provides an electronic circuit detecting and correcting transmission errors using linear programming. Linear programming techniques are made practical for real-time error correction and decoding by dividing the linear programming problem into independent parallelizable problems so that separate independent portions of the electronic circuit may simultaneously address solutions related to individual bits and / or parity rules. Linear programming is believed to avoid error floors inherent in conventional belief propagation error detection and correction techniques providing a decoding system suitable for high reliability applications.

Managing an air-ground communications network with air traffic control information

Systems and methods that coordinate assignments of aircraft operating within a controlled airspace to ground radios are provided. In one embodiment, such a system includes an air traffic control (ATC) facility (12), a plurality of ground radios (16A-16C), and a network manager (20) communicatively coupled to the air traffic control facility (12) and the ground radios (16A-16C). The air traffic control facility is responsible for controlling aircraft (14A-14I) operating within the airspace (10) and providing ATC information to the network manager (20). The ground radios (16A-16C) are operable to provide communications between the air traffic control facility (12) and the aircraft (14A-14I). The network manager (20) is operable to assign each aircraft (14A-14I) to one of the ground radios (16A-16C) based on network management considerations using the ATC information.

Laser processing mask and laser processing method

In a laser processing mask, apertures formed thereon as laser light passing apertures are shaped so that a plurality of protrusions extend radially from the center of each of the apertures to the peripheral portion thereof. By using this laser processing mask, a recess pattern with dimensions of several micrometers to several tens of micrometers and high dimensional precision and shape precision can be formed on the surface of a workpiece made of, for example, a metal material by laser processing.

Image generator and projector

A generator and projector system for providing a test target for testing sensing apparatus includes an aperture stop located adjacent to the sensing apparatus. Also included are a spherical mirror having a concave side facing the aperture stop and an object disposed between the spherical mirror and the aperture stop. The object includes various test targets for testing the sensing apparatus. A longitudinal optical axis passes through the aperture stop, the spherical mirror and the object. Illumination of the object generates the test target, which is then reflected from the spherical mirror toward the aperture stop, for testing the sensing apparatus.
