An apparatus and method of performing a minimally invasive posterior spine fusion. More specifically an apparatus with a handle and a forked head on the distal end of the handle is used to grasp implant material and introduce the material to an implant site. The shaft of the apparatus is shaped so as to allow the affixation of a drill guide and drill while simultaneously holding the implant material in the implant site. After removal of the boring tools and assembly of the fusing element, the apparatus can be selectively removed from the implant site. A method of achieving facet joint fusion with near simultaneous fixation is also disclosed.

A process control or safety instrumented system uses function block logic to coordinate the logic within the process control or safety instrumented system with operational states of field devices, even when these operational states are initiated externally to the process control or safety system. Logic within input or voter function blocks associated with field devices may monitor and determine when the associated field devices are being put into testing or calibration modes and may automatically initiate appropriate bypass or override functionality in response to such detected field device configuration states. Likewise, the function block logic may automatically remove the bypass or override functionality when the field devices are placed back into their normal operational configuration states. This automatic initiation of bypasses and overrides helps to prevent a safety system within a process plant from initiating a shut-down procedure as a result of a device test initiated manually by, for example, a hand-held device attached to a field device. Likewise, the automatic removal of bypasses and overrides helps to prevent a safety system within a process plant from failing to operate properly because a user forgot to manually remove a bypass or override that was set up to allow a device test.

A peripheral nerve block needle for facilitating a peripheral nerve block procedure. A needle has several fenestrations along its length to allow an efflux of local anesthetic into a particular fascial compartment to treat a corresponding peripheral nerve despite only roughly approximating the location of such fascial compartment. A needle hub may be attached to the needle so that a backflow of fluid may be observed. A stylet is slidably disposed within the needle and needle hub such that selectively withdrawing the stylet from the apparatus enables a backflow of fluid into the needle hub, from which proper localization of the apparatus may be verified prior to administering local anesthetic. In this manner, local anesthetic may be effectively and efficiently administered to a peripheral nerve with reduced risk of injury to a patient.

The invention relates to a drilling process for surveying a land pebble-filled limestone cave. Different from a traditional process, the drilling process for surveying the land pebble-filled limestonecave comprises the process steps of (a) measuring a hole position, then adopting a first drilling tool to start drilling, and protecting a wall for a hole drilled at the upper end of a rock base plane after drilling to the rock base plane; (b) then drilling a limestone cave layer top plate surface, cleaning the hole to be below a limestone cave layer bottom plate surface, then lift-drilling, andrecording the distance between the limestone cave layer top plate surface and the limestone cave layer bottom plate surface; (c) configuring a core barrel with a drill bit according to the distance instep (b) so as to form a second drilling tool, then using the second drilling tool to drill the limestone cave layer bottom plate surface, and keeping the core barrel with the drill bit in the drilled hole so as to protect the wall, wherein the wall protecting range is at least from the limestone cave layer top plate surface to the limestone cave layer bottom plate surface; (d) adopting a third drilling tool with the diameter being smaller than the inner diameter of the core barrel for drilling and coring in the core barrel to a designed hole depth; and (f) after finishing drilling and coring, taking the core barrel out. The drilling process for surveying the land pebble-filled limestone cave involved in the invention has high construction efficiency.
