Electroactive polymer devices for moving fluid

The invention describes devices for performing thermodynamic work on a fluid, such as pumps, compressors and fans. The thermodynamic work may be used to provide a driving force for moving the fluid. Work performed on the fluid may be transmitted to other devices, such as a piston in a hydraulic actuation device. The devices may include one or more electroactive polymer transducers with an electroactive polymer that deflects in response to an application of an electric field. The electroactive polymer may be in contact with a fluid where the deflection of the electroactive polymer may be used to perform thermodynamic work on the fluid. The devices may be designed to efficiently operate at a plurality of operating conditions, such as operating conditions that produce an acoustic signal above or below the human hearing range. The devices may be used in thermal control systems, such as refrigeration system, cooling systems and heating systems.

Precision vibration damping assembly and vibration damping platform composed of the assembly

The invention discloses a precision damping component and a damping platform composed of the precision damping component, and the damping platform has damping function and positioning function along a Z direction. The precision damping component comprises a passive damping part, an active damping actuator and an external frame. The passive damping part is a piston rod with a structure of double cavities, an air pocket and a pressure cavity are respectively positioned in the two cavities, and the air pocket has larger longitudinal bracing power and lower rigidity, and can isolate the vibration of attenuation high frequency. The active damping actuator is a linear voice coil motor connected in parallel with the passive damping part, and applies acting force to a passive object according to the vibration condition and location information of the controlled object, so as to drive the controlled object to move to a designated position and compensate the vibration. The damping platform composed of at least three precision damping components has the functions of vibration damping with a plurality of degrees of freedom, accurately positioning along the Z direction, focusing and leveling. The precision damping component and the damping platform can be used in the apparatus with precision damping requirements such as mask aligners, ultra-precision numerically-controlled machine tools, biochip scanners and the like.

A stabilized field sensor apparatus collects field data, in particular magnetic field data, with reduced motion noise. The apparatus includes a tear drop shaped housing, a tow frame in the housing, a plurality of vibration isolating dampers spaced around the frame, a base assembly mounted to the dampers, a support pedestal having a bottom end fixed to the base assembly and an upper free end, a single spherical air bearing connected to the upper free end of the pedestal, an instrument platform with a lower hollow funnel having an upper inside apex supported on the air bearing for a one point support, principal and secondary gyro stabilizers for maintaining pivotal and rotational stability, and at least one field sensor mounted to the instrument platform for collecting the field data while being stabilized against motion noise including vibration, pivoting and rotation from the base assembly, from the tow frame and from the housing. Stabilization of the instrument platform is enhanced by preserving accurate balance through a dynamic balancing system whereby small masses are moved under computer control to maintain the center of mass of the instrument platform at the center of rotation of the spherical air bearing. The dynamic stabilization process is made more precise by actively vibrating the instrument platform by a set of linear vibrators.

Crankshaft decoupler

A decoupler assembly (20) is provided for transferring rotational torque between a drive shaft (16) and a drive belt (18) of an automotive engine. The decoupler assembly includes a drive hub (40) configured to be fixedly secured to the drive shaft. A pulley (22) is rotatably coupled to the drive hub (40) and adapted to be drivingly engaged with the belt (18). A spring shell (70, 100) is operatively coupled between the drive hub and the pulley for selective rotation therewith and a biasing member (130) is operatively coupled between the spring shell and the drive hub for isolating oscillatory vibrations between the drive hub and the pulley caused by rotation of the drive shaft. A clutch element (140) is seated between the spring shell (70, 100) and the pulley (22) for selectively transferring rotational torque from the drive hub to the pulley. The pulley (22) includes an inner clutch surface (26) and the clutch element includes a plurality of coils in frictional engagement with the inner clutch surface and an end coupled to the spring shell for expanding the coils against the inner clutch surface upon rotation of the spring shell with the drive hub to selectively transfer torque between the drive hub (40) and the pulley (22).
