Method and system for multi-band direct conversion CMOS mobile television tuner

Aspects of a method and system for a multi-band direct conversion CMOS mobile television tuner are provided. A single-chip multi-band RF receiver in a mobile terminal comprising UHF and L-band front-ends receives and amplifies an RF signal utilizing an LNA integrated into the front-end that corresponds to the type of signal received. A received signal strength indicator (RSSI) value may be determined for the amplified signal within the single-chip receiver and may be utilized to adjust a gain of the LNA. The adjustment may be made via on-chip or off-chip processing of the RSSI value. The single-chip receiver may directly convert the amplified signal to a baseband frequency signal and generate in-phase and quadrature components. The components of the baseband frequency signal may be filtered and / or amplified via programmable devices within the single-chip receiver. Circuitry within the single-chip receiver may be controller via an on-chip digital interface.

Centralized resource manager

A centralized resource manager for distributed networks manages resources available on the network, such as network bandwidth, CPU allocation, TV tuners, MPEG encoders and decoders, disk bandwidth, and input / output devices. The centralized resource manager also allocates the resources of network clients and a network-associated media server, in response to requests for media services via the distributed network. The centralized resource manager may include means for discovering when devices are added or removed from the network; a current, IR, or electromagnetic field sensing system for determining when video devices are turned off so that resources associated with any device not in use may be reallocated elsewhere; or a power switching system for controlling the ON or OFF state of such devices so that resources associated with any device in the OFF state may be reallocated elsewhere.

Split television and control box applied to split television

A split television comprises a display device and a control box which are separated mutually. The control box comprises a television tuner and a plurality of video input interfaces, wherein the video input interfaces can receive television signals and video files and audio and video data different in formats by the aid of different transmission modes. The television signals, the video files and audio and video signals are converted into image data and audio data according with the preset signal transmission standards, the video signals are transmitted to the display device via a data transmission line, and the audio data are converted into sound signals via an audio processing unit and a loudspeaker. Since the display device and the control box of the split television are separably designed, the display device comprises a display panel, a necessary driving circuit and an image processing chip, and the rest, a power source module, a data processing module and the loudspeaker are arranged in the control box, and the thickness of the display device can be reduced maximally. The invention further provides the control box applied to the split television.

Continuous delay television picture display apparatus

An apparatus to aid in the replaying of previously transmitted video signals for the purposed of reviewing missed information on a television receiver is disclosed. Comprising a television tuner whose output signal passes through a video recording system, it utilizes conventional recording technology with the use of a continuous loop tape. The output signal from the tuner is also passed on to a television monitor under normal, standby operation. In the instance where a viewer wishes to review a just viewed signal, such as might occur during a missed word or word sequence such as a telephone number, the viewer is able to switch over to the stored signal on the videotape for a replay of said signal. The replay will continue as many times as desired by the viewer until all necessary information is absorbed. The stored sequence time duration is variable in nature and user selectable. The viewer may view the replayed signal in a picture-in-picture window or may view the replayed signal on the full screen. When completed, the viewer would switch back to real time viewing at which point the video recording process would begin anew. The viewer also has the option of viewing one selected image on a continuous "stop frame" basis and also has the option of producing a hard copy, printed image from an integral printing means.

Method and apparatus for providing simplified peer-to-peer recording

A television apparatus having digital serial bus ports allows a user to select a user-designated digital video content source input such as a digital tuner of the television apparatus and digital serial bus compliant components connected to the television apparatus via the digital serial bus ports of the television apparatus, and to cause digital content from the user-designated digital content source device to be recorded onto a digital recording device connected to the television apparatus via the digital serial bus ports. The present invention allows a user to continuously record digital content onto a digital recording device (e.g. an AVHDD), whether from the TV's digital tuner or from another digital serial bus compliant device in a peer to peer arrangement. The connection is always recording, but allows the user to select or designate a digital (i.e. MPEG2) source (i.e. the TV tuner or another digital serial bus compliant device), in addition to displaying the selected content.
