Rating hypermedia for objectionable content

A method for providing rated hypermedia content, in which the rating represents degrees of objectionable content, includes four steps: generating raw hypermedia content from a set of units containing data from external data files, obtaining content rating vectors associated with the external data files, deriving a composite content rating vector for the raw hypermedia content from the content rating vectors, and storing the composite content rating vector in the raw hypermedia content to produce rated hypermedia content. Preferably, the raw hypermedia content is a raw search result page created automatically by a search engine in response to a query from a client machine. A rated search result page is generated and transmitted to the client machine over a computer network. The units may represent external data files, preferably other Web pages, and the content rating vectors represent the degrees of objectionable content of the Web pages. Content rating vectors are obtained directly from the external data files or by rating them automatically. The external data files may be of any type, including audio, text, image, or a combination. The composite content rating vector comprises a set of components, and each component is derived from corresponding components of the content rating vectors. Each component may equal the maximum value of the corresponding components of the content rating vectors.

Dynamic reduction of stream backpressure

Techniques are described for eliminating backpressure in a distributed system by changing the rate data flows through a processing element. Backpressure occurs when data throughput in a processing element begins to decrease, for example, if new processing elements are added to the operating chart or if the distributed system is required to process more data. Indicators of backpressure (current or future) may be monitored. Once current backpressure or potential backpressure is identified, the operator graph or data rates may be altered to alleviate the backpressure. For example, a processing element may reduce the data rates it sends to processing elements that are downstream in the operator graph, or processing elements and / or data paths may be eliminated. In one embodiment, processing elements and associate data paths may be prioritized so that more important execution paths are maintained. In another embodiment, if a request to add one or more processing elements may cause future backpressure, the request may be refused.

Method for Obtaining Customer Feedback Through Text Messaging

A methodology and system for obtaining customer feedback via text messages from cellular phones uses an advertising display to solicit text message based feedback relating to a particular product or service. A receipt is generated at a point of sale when a transaction is consummated that identifies the time, place and goods or services associated with the transaction. The advertisement is positioned near the point of sale and prompts the customers to rate their service or experience and enter their identification code through text messages. A central server receives the text message responses and solicits additional feedback from the customers. Web based access to selected summary response data is provided to the customers. In addition, the retailer or advertiser can view more complete and unedited versions of the response data associated with their advertisements through a password protected web interface. GPS or cellular location technology is used when available to correlate the response data to a particular location or store. Directed advertisements are provided to the advertisers and customers based upon the products and services which they are associated with.

A Call Server in a network is able to monitor an offered rate of incoming calls per Access Gateway (AGW). A calculated GlobalLeakRate can be distributed between the AGWs in proportion to the traffic rate they offer. A leak rate calculation method is used to calculate the GlobalLeakRate control parameter of the ETSI NR restrictor at an overloaded Control Server The leak rate calculation is based on the POTS call rejection rate. In one particular embodiment of the present invention, the calculation is based on bringing the call reject rate close to a configurable low target reject level. An MGC is able to identify the end of an overload event with a greater degree of confidence and an AGW is able respond appropriately if the AGW is prematurely instructed to stop the control.

The present invention relates to a method for extracting and purifying functional components of Chinese herbal medicine. The purpose is to provide a simple, safe, economical and efficient method for extracting and purifying monomeric compounds vitexin and isovitexin from pigeonpea branches and leaves. The technical scheme is: using fresh or dried branches and leaves of pigeonpea as raw materials, using homogenate extraction technology, ultrasonic assisted extraction technology, ultrasonic oscillation flocculation technology, negative pressure cavitation suspension liquid extraction technology, macroporous adsorption resin enrichment technology, ODS -C18 reverse phase medium pressure silica gel column chromatography technology combined with low temperature crystallization and recrystallization technology to obtain vitexin and isovitexin with a purity of over 90%, and the extraction rates are over 0.17% and 0.13% respectively . The raw materials used in the invention are fresh or dried pigeonpea branches and leaves which are mostly discarded in agricultural production, which neither destroys the ecological balance of plants nor affects agricultural production, and can obtain high-purity pigeonpea functional components. Moreover, the method is simple and easy to implement after extraction, preliminary impurity removal and repurification, and the loss of the target compound is small. It is suitable for industrial applications and is of great significance to industrial production.

Radio communication system

A radio communication system comprising a primary station and a plurality of secondary stations has a communication channel for the transmission of information from a secondary station to the primary station. The secondary station can adjust its output transmission power at a plurality of different rates, and the primary station can instruct the secondary station which of the plurality of rates it should use. The primary station determines the optimum rate for the secondary station to use by measurement of characteristics of signals received from the secondary station, for example the average signal to interference ratio, and instructs the secondary station accordingly. Other indications may be used to determine or verify the optimum rate, for example further properties of the received signals or information on the speed of the secondary station.
