The invention relates to a method for conducting
nutrient and water management in the celery
seedling stage. The method is characterized by including the following process steps: (1) frequently keeping
bed faces wet after planting before seedlings are emerged; watering is not needed normally after
seedling beds are fully watered with
bottom water due to the fact that the
seedling beds with simple shading objects are small in
evaporation capacity; seedling beds are required to be watered with a small amount of water in the
morning or at night due to the fact that the seedling beds without shading objects are high in
air temperature and large in
evaporation capacity; watering is normally carried out every
one or two days; watering is not needed normally when seedlings grow in early spring or winter to prevent
ground temperature reduction; (2) in the period from seedling emergence to rough leaf unfolding, though seedlings suck a small amount of water, watering is required to be carried out frequently; the seedling beds are kept wet, and the seedlings are prevented from being burnt by burning sun; watering is carried out every two or three days with a small amount of water; (3) when three or four main leaves of the seedlings are grown, root systems begin to expand, the water absorbing capacity is gradually strengthened, and the watering frequency is gradually lowered; watering is carried out on the seedling beds when the surfaces of the seedling beds are dry to promote the development of the root systems and quicken spire differentiation; if overmuch water is used for watering,
excessive growth of the seedlings is easily caused, and cultivation of strong seedlings is not facilitated; after two to three main leaves are grown, two or three times of topdressing is carried out in cooperation with watering, and the topdressing amount follows the principles of small amount and
high frequency; normally 0.25 kg-0.5 kg of
urea or three-
nutrient compound fertilizers are applied to each seedling grow
bed in a flushing mode; according to growth conditions of the seedlings, leaf fertilizers can be applied in cooperation with
aphid prevention in the seedling stage one or two times; when four to five leaves of the celery seedlings are grown and the celery heights are about 15 cm, field planting can be carried out. By means of the method, the problems that at present, traditional celery
nutrient and water management and seedling emergence are difficult, the seedlings grow slowly, and even seedling death is caused are solved.
