Session file modification with annotation using speech recognition or text to speech

An apparatus comprising a session file, session file editor, annotation window, concatenation software and training software. The session file includes one or more audio files and text associated with each audio file segment. The session file editor displays text and provides text selection capability and plays back audio. The annotation window operably associated with the session file editor supports user modification of the selected text, the annotation window saves modified text corresponding to the selected text from the session file editor and audio associated with the modified text. The concatenation software concatenates modified text and audio associated therewith for two or more instances of the selected text. The training software trains a speech user profile using a concatenated file formed by the concatenating software. The session file may have original audio associated with the selected text, wherein the apparatus further comprises software for substituting the modified text for the selected text. In some embodiments, the concatenation software concatenates modified text and audio associated therewith for two or more instances of the selected text. In some embodiments, the training software trains a speech user profile using a concatenated file formed by the concatenating software.

Sensory motor stimulation garment and method

ActiveUS20100010568A1More biomechanical efficiencyEnhancing and optimizing body mechanicElectrotherapyDevices for pressing relfex pointsSensory motor systemEngineering
A garment for stimulation of a wearer's sensory motor system. The garment includes a main body portion that includes an anterior portion and a posterior portion and at least one sensory motor stimulation member associated with the main body portion. The garment is configured to be worn over at least a portion of the wearer's torso and is form-fitting when worn by the wearer. The at least one sensory motor stimulation member contacts the wearer's skin when the garment is worn and is fabricated of an elastomeric material that causes the garment to stimulate the cutaneous nerve receptors in the wearer's skin contacted by the at least one sensory motor stimulation member.

Cognitive training using guided eye movements

Computer-implemented method for enhancing cognitive ability of a participant using guided eye movements. Multiple graphical elements are provided for visual presentation to the participant, each having a value. A temporal sequence of at least two of the graphical elements are visually presented at a specified stimulus intensity, e.g., duration or presentation time, including displaying the value of each graphical element at a respective position in a visual field for a specified duration, then ceasing to display the value. The participant is required to respond to the displayed values. A determination is made as to whether the participant responded correctly, and the stimulus intensity modified in response, e.g., using a maximum likelihood procedure. The visually presenting, requiring, determining, and modifying are repeated in an iterative manner to improve the participant's cognitive skills. Periodically, assessments of the participant's progress are performed, e.g., using the maximum likelihood procedure.

Hybrid electric vehicle

In a first forward drive mode, at speeds of the vehicle lower than a predetermined speed, an electric traction motor (17) drives the wheels (12, 13) of the vehicle, while an internal-combustion engine (27) drives an electric generator (34) or rests. The generator charges an electric battery (38), or powers the traction motor, or both. In a second forward drive mode, at speeds of the vehicle higher than the predetermined speed, the engine drives the electric generator and the wheels of the vehicle, while the traction motor is not energized. In a third forward drive mode, at speeds of the vehicle higher than the predetermined speed, the traction motor, powered by the electric battery, together with the engine drive the wheels of the vehicle. In a reverse drive mode the traction motor alone drives the wheels of the vehicle. A clutch (32) selectively interrupts the power transmission between the engine and the wheels of the vehicle. The traction motor selectively operates as an electric braking generator, during speed retardation and braking of the vehicle, and charges the electric battery. A central electronic controller (46) controls and coordinates the operation of the clutch, traction motor, and engine for achieving high fuel efficiency at both city and highway operational conditions.
