Fingerprint recognition system

A method of analyzing and recognizing fingerprint images that utilizes vector processing of a vector field that is defined as the tangential vector of the fingerprint ridge curves is disclosed. The raw fingerprint image is divided into blocks, filtered to remove noise, and the orientation direction of each block is found. This allows the ridge curves to be enhanced and approximated by piece-wise linear approximations. The piece-wise linear approximations to the ridge curves allow the minutiae to be extracted and classified and a fingerprint minutiae template to be constructed. An enrollment process gathers multiple fingerprint images, creates fingerprint minutiae templates corresponding to the acquired fingerprint images, and stores the templates and other data associated with the respective individual or the enrolled fingerprint in a fingerprint database. In an identification process, an unknown raw fingerprint image is obtained via a fingerprint scanner and processed similarly to the enrollment process such that the fingerprint minutiae template of the unknown fingerprint is compared to one or more previously enrolled fingerprint minutiae templates. The identity of the individual associated with the unknown fingerprint is thereby ascertained. In addition, live finger detection can be accomplished in conjunction with the verification or identification process through analysis of the fingerprint image thus enhancing the security of the overall system.

Real-time embedded visible spectrum light vision-based human finger detection and tracking method

In one aspect there is provided an embodiment of an image capture device comprising a camera, an image processor, a storage device and an interface. The camera is configured to capture images in visible spectrum light of a human finger as part of a human hand in a field of view (FOV) of the camera. The image processor is configured to process a first one of the images to detect a presence of the finger. The image capture device is configured to detect the position of the presence of the finger tip, track movement of the finger tip within the FOV by processing at least a second one of the images and generate a command based on the tracked movement of the finger within the FOV. The method does not require any pre-detection training sequence with said finger prior to finger detection, and does not require the finger to be in specific relative angle or finger orientation in said FOV. If the human hand is holding a “finger” like object, such as a pen or stick, such object will be recognized as finger and the tip of the object will be recognized as finger tip and position is also detected. The interface is configured to transmit the detection of the presence of the finger, the assigned position of the finger tip and the command to an external apparatus.

Finger detection device and method of fingerprint recognition integrated circuit

A finger detection device and method of a fingerprint recognition IC is disclosed. The device comprises sensing electrodes, a capacitive sensing layer, a signal processing circuit, a multiplexer module and a signal register. The sensing electrodes are defined as a fingerprint sensing zone. The capacitive sensing layer covers the sensing electrodes. The signal processing circuit is arranged below and electrically connected with the sensing electrodes. The multiplexer module defines a finger detection zone. The finger detection zone includes at least one of the sensing electrodes. The signal register is electrically connected with the signal processing circuit, receiving a detection signal generated by the finger detection zone and comparing the detection signal with a preset value. The finger detection device uses only a portion of the sensing electrodes to detect a finger approaching / contacting it to determine triggering or sleeping of the fingerprint recognition IC and thus reduces power consumption.

Finger vein recognition device and method with living body finger detection function

The invention discloses a finger vein recognition device and method with the living body finger detection function. The device comprises a near-infrared light lamp bank arranged around a finger and further comprises a guide groove located in the middle of the device and guiding the placement position of the finger. A finger placement platform is arranged at the bottom of the guide groove. A camera device for photographing veins is arranged on the lower portion of the platform. A camera window is arranged in the center of the finger placement platform. An optical filter is arranged between a camera of the camera device and the camera window. An infrared pulse wave detection sensor is arranged on or below the finger placement platform. A control module is further arranged in the device, wherein the control module is used for controlling the photographing process, processing photographed data and processing data detected by the infrared pulse wave detection sensor. According to the device and method, pulse waves are detected through the infrared pulse wave detection sensor arranged in the device, then, whether a test object has a living body finger or not is judged, and thus the reliability of finger vein recognition is improved.

Finger sensing device with low power finger detection and associated methods

A finger sensing device may include an array of finger sensing electrodes, and a processor cooperating with the array of finger sensing electrodes for operation in a lower power consumption finger detecting mode, and for operation in a higher power consumption reading mode upon detection of a finger. The processor may selectively bus together finger sensing electrodes into at least one group from the array thereof when in the lower power consumption finger detecting mode to thereby detect a finger adjacent the array of finger sensing electrodes. The method includes: extracting a candidate finger-palm center axis traversing candidate fingers and a candidate palm from a binary image generated from an image; generating shape features of the candidate fingers and the candidate palm corresponding to the candidate finger-palm center axis; and judging whether the candidate finger-palm center axis stems from a human hand or not according to shape features of fingers and a palm of a human. By the method and the equipment for detecting the fingers in the images, the features with notable physical meanings are extracted from the images, and the fingers are detected by the aid of the extracted features, so that the fingers are detected accurately and efficiently.
