1031 results about "Block group" patented technology

Block Groups (BGs) are statistical divisions of census tracts, are generally defined to contain between 600 and 3,000 people, and are used to present data and control block numbering. A block group consists of clusters of blocks within the same census tract. IMPORTANT!

Asymmetrical adapters and methods of use thereof

A pair of asymmetrical, partially double-stranded oligonucleotide adapters are provided wherein the pair of adapters comprise a first asymmetrical oligonucleotide adapter comprising a single-stranded 3′ overhang and a second asymmetrical double-stranded oligonucleotide adapter comprising a single-stranded 5′ overhang and at least one blocking group on the strand of said second asymmetrical oligonucleotide adapter that does not comprise the 5′ overhang. Also provided are a pair of double-stranded Y oligonucleotide adapters and a pair of double-stranded bubble oligonucleotide adapters and methods of using said asymmetrical adapters for amplification of at least one double stranded nucleic acid molecule, wherein the amplification produces a plurality of amplified nucleic acid molecules having a different nucleic acid sequence at each end are also described. Also provided is a method for exponentially amplifying one strand in a double-stranded nucleic acid molecule. Also provided are methods for preparing libraries of paired tags using COS-linkers. Also provided are cleavable adapters comprising an affinity tag and a cleavable linkage, wherein cleaving the cleavable linkage produces two complementary ends. Methods of using the cleavable adapters to produce a paired tag library are also described.

Amino acid substituted-cresyl violet, synthetic fluorogenic substrates for the analysis of agents in individual in vivo cells or tissue

The present invention concerns a method to detect the presence of an enzyme in in vivo or in vitro tissue or cell, which method comprises:(a) obtaining a tissue or cell sample to be analyzed;(b) contacting the tissue or cell sample with a substrate of the structure selected from the group consisting of:X=H or one or more natural or synthetic amino acids with or without amino blocking groups,Y=H or one or more natural or synthetic amino acids with or without amino blocking groups, wherein X and Y are the same or different and are amino acid sequences of between about 1 to 1,000,000 amino acids wherein each amino acid is the same or a different amino acid, with the proviso that at least one of X or Y is at least one amino acid;(c) when an enzyme is present in the tissue or cell sample which degrades X, Y and combinations thereof, fluorescent cresyl violet is released in the tissue sample producing a color change;(d) detecting the presence and amount of the enzyme present by the detection and quantification of the fluorescence produced; and(e) optionally comparing the fluorescence to a pre-calibrated fluorescence scale to quantify the fluorescence present. A diagnostic kit for use and a method to prepare amino acid cresyl violet derivatives are described.

Method and apparatus for enabling a NAS system to utilize thin provisioning

A NAS (network attached storage) controller managing file system data is configured for use in a storage system having thin provisioning capability. Physical storage capacity is used efficiently by making it possible for the NAS controller to identify to a disk array system having thin provisioning capability which segments of a thin provisioned volume are no longer in use. File system blocks or block groups no longer in use by the NAS controller are identified by the NAS controller. The NAS controller sends a release request to the disk array system specifying thin provisioning segments that correspond to the identified FS blocks or block groups. The release request instructs the disk array system to release chunks of physical storage capacity assigned to the specified thin provisioning segments so that the physical storage capacity can be made available for reuse in the disk array storage system.

Methods of transmitting and receiving data in communication system

A data transmitting and receiving method is disclosed. In transmitting a response signal for a transmission signal from at least one transmitter, the present invention includes receiving at least one data block from the at least one transmitter, the at least one data block grouped into at least one group and then transmitted by the at least one transmitter, checking whether each data block is successfully received for the at least one data block belonging to the corresponding group per the group, selecting a transmission scheme of transmitting a response signal instructing a presence or non-presence of successful reception of the each data block to the at least one transmitter, and transmitting a response signal for the each data block to the at least one transmitter by the selected response signal transmission scheme. Hence, the present invention reduces overhead of control information necessary for data transmission.

Super-resolution method based on single image

The invention relates to a super-resolution method based on a single image. The super-resolution method includes the steps that S1, bicubic interpolation is carried out on the input low-resolution image to obtain an initial high-resolution image; S2, the initial high-resolution image is divided into a plurality of image blocks overlapped mutually, then a similar image block grouping is obtained, and image noise of the similar image block grouping is removed; S3, the multiple denoised image blocks are fused into a whole high-resolution image, a non-local similar image block and a weighting coefficient of each image block are solved, and the redundancy weight of a non-local similar image block grouping is calculated; S4, an on-line dictionary is updated according to the similar image block grouping and fused with an off-line dictionary; S5, the sparse representation coefficient, about a fused dictionary, of each image block is solved; S6, all the image blocks and the whole high-resolution image are reconstructed, if iterations do not converge and the number of the iterations is smaller than a preset threshold value, the previous steps are executed again, and otherwise the high-resolution image is output. The reality sense and accuracy of super-resolution reconstruction are promoted, and the super-resolution method has the advantage of removing the image noise at the same time.
