Funneled wind turbine aircraft

An aircraft adapted to house a wind funnel and a wind turbine configured to convert the airflow through the wind funnel into electricity. An electrical cable between the aircraft and a ground station transfers the generated electricity from the aircraft to the receiving ground station for distribution. A plurality of aircraft according to certain embodiments may form a system for generating electricity from airflow.

Fishing rod and reel carrying case

The fishing rod and reel carrying case is designed to house a fully assembled rod and reel for transport and temporary storage thereof. The case is of an elongate configuration and incorporates a zipper or the like for closing and opening the case. The case incorporates handles to enhance transport thereof. The case is fabricated from a composite material that provides protection from damage for the encased rod and reel, and also provides for buoyancy should the case fall into the water.

Submerged Surface Cleaner

The invention concerns a suction-type submerged surface cleaner (10) which comprises an injection moulded cleaner head (12) defining internal valve chamber (14). There is a suction inlet (24) to the valve chamber, and an outlet (45) from the valve chamber. A hammer (16) is arranged to oscillate in the valve chamber under the influence of suction flow through the valve chamber from the inlet to the outlet. Contact surfaces (54) of the valve chamber walls (46, 48), which are contacted by the hammer as it oscillates, are provided internally by regions of the valve chamber walls which are reduced locally in thickness compared to other regions of the valve chamber walls. Also, at least some relatively thick regions of the valve chamber walls are formed during moulding with internal cavities to provide buoyancy for the cleaner.

High speed modular sea base

A high-speed modular platform has an upper level section having gas turbines on it for propulsion, and a lower level section has a lower periphery having a flexible skirt system connected to it to create an air cushion. Hollow struts extend between the upper level section and the lower level section. Each hollow strut is securely connected to the lower level section and has an opening communicating with a skirt volume inside of the flexible skirt system. Each hollow strut slideably engages the upper level section to permit sliding motion of the upper level section on the hollow struts toward and away from the lower level section. A gas turbine is connected to each of the hollow struts to vent, or force pressurized gas through them and create an air cushion with the flexible skirt system to enable high-speed transit over water and land surfaces and provide buoyancy.

There is described herein an apparatus for providing buoyancy and / or facilitating rescue of a person or object. The apparatus includes a tubular sleeve for securing the apparatus around at least a portion of a person or an object wherein longitudinal extension of the sleeve causes the diameter of the sleeve to contract radially to grip the person or object or a portion thereof and wherein longitudinal compression of the sleeve causes the diameter of the sleeve to expand. The apparatus may further include a structure coupled to the tubular sleeve for attaching the apparatus to rescue equipment and / or for providing a handle and / or at least one flotation device coupled to the tubular sleeve.
