Small volume in vitro analyte sensor with diffusible or non-leachable redox mediator

A region of skin, other than the fingertips, is stimulated. After stimulation, an opening is created in the skin (e.g., by lancing the skin) to cause a flow of body fluid from the region. At least a portion of this body fluid is transported to a testing device where the concentration of analyte (e.g., glucose) in the body fluid is then determined. It is found that the stimulation of the skin provides results that are generally closer to the results of measurements from the fingertips, the traditional site for obtaining body fluid for analyte testing.

System and method of call classification with context modeling based on composite words

A system and method of automatically classifying a communication involving at least one human, e.g., a human-to-human telephone conversation, into predefined categories of interest, e.g., “angry customer, etc. The system automatically, or semi-automatically with user interaction, expanding user input into semantically equivalent events. The system recognizes these events, each of which is given a confidence level, and classifies the telephone conversation based on an overall confidence level. In some embodiments, a different base unit is utilized. Instead of recognizing individual words, the system recognizes composite words, each of which is pre-programmed as an atomic unit, in a given context. The recognition includes semantically relevant composite words and contexts automatically generated by the system. The composite words based contextual recognition technique enables the system to efficiently and logically classifying and indexing large volumes of communications and audio collections such as call center calls, Webinars, live news feeds, etc.

Parking assistance system

During a period until a subject vehicle stops to go back for being parked, detection distance data items and advance distance data items are obtained by using an ultrasonic sensor and a speed sensor. These data items are stored with both the data items mutually associated. The detection distance data item indicates a distance to a parked vehicle adjacent to the subject vehicle and the advance distance data item indicates a distance in which the subject vehicle advances. When computing a size of the parked vehicle from the advance distance data items, the size of the parked vehicle is determined to be shorter than an aggregated distance corresponding to the advance distance data items. This enables the determined size of the parked vehicle to approximate an actual size of the parked vehicle.

Solution formulations of sirolimus and its analogs for CAD treatment

Medical devices, and in particular implantable medical devices, may be coated to minimize or substantially eliminate a biological organism's reaction to the introduction of the medical device to the organism. The medical devices may be coated with any number of biocompatible materials. Therapeutic drugs, agents or compounds may be mixed with the biocompatible materials and affixed to at least a portion of the medical device. These therapeutic drugs, agents or compounds may also further reduce a biological organism's reaction to the introduction of the medical device to the organism. In addition, these therapeutic drugs, agents and/or compounds may be utilized to promote healing, including the formation of blood clots. Therapeutic agents may also be delivered to the region of a disease site. In regional delivery, liquid formulations may be desirable to increase the efficacy and deliverability of the particular drug. Also, the devices may be modified to promote endothelialization. Various materials and coating methodologies may be utilized to maintain the drugs, agents or compounds on the medical device until delivered and positioned. In addition, the devices utilized to deliver the implantable medical devices may be modified to reduce the potential for damaging the implantable medical device during deployment. Medical devices include stents, grafts, anastomotic devices, perivascular wraps, sutures and staples. In addition, various polymer combinations may be utilized to control the elution rates of the therapeutic drugs, agents and/or compounds from the implantable medical devices.

Small volume in vitro analyte sensor

A sensor utilizing a non-leachable or diffusible redox mediator is described. The sensor includes a sample chamber to hold a sample in electrolytic contact with a working electrode, and in at least some instances, the sensor also contains a non-leachable or a diffusible second electron transfer agent. The sensor and / or the methods used produce a sensor signal in response to the analyte that can be distinguished from a background signal caused by the mediator. The invention can be used to determine the concentration of a biomolecule, such as glucose or lactate, in a biological fluid, such as blood or serum, using techniques such as coulometry, amperometry, and potentiometry. An enzyme capable of catalyzing the electrooxidation or electroreduction of the biomolecule is typically provided as a second electron transfer agent.

Interactive tool and appertaining method for creating a graphical music display

The invention provides apparatus and a method for creating a visual representation of music that conveys the musical form, structure, event surface, orchestration, and sonic framework of the piece being visualized. The representation comprises visual characters / sprites that move in time according to instructions from the metadata synchronized to the actual musical recording. These characters accurately portray the rhythm, pitch, and timbre of the individual elements in the musical surface (individual lines or performers) and have a hierarchy of representation, e.g. thematic elements that are divided into sub-elements (gestures or phrases) that are further divided into individual notes. The visual representation corresponds to the structure of the music as heard, where simultaneous harmonic events are parsed into individual notes which are then tied together into a rhythmic stream of linked events. Two streams of data (the “musical” and the “sonic”) are synchronized to the musical piece to drive the visualization.

Lidar-based classification of object movement

Within machine vision, object movement is often estimated by applying image evaluation techniques to visible light images, utilizing techniques such as perspective and parallax. However, the precision of such techniques may be limited due to visual distortions in the images, such as glare and shadows. Instead, lidar data may be available (e.g., for object avoidance in automated navigation), and may serve as a high-precision data source for such determinations. Respective lidar points of a lidar point cloud may be mapped to voxels of a three-dimensional voxel space, and voxel clusters may be identified as objects. The movement of the lidar points may be classified over time, and the respective objects may be classified as moving or stationary based on the classification of the lidar points associated with the object. This classification may yield precise results, because voxels in three-dimensional voxel space present clearly differentiable statuses when evaluated over time.
