Peer-to-peer file download system for IPTV network

InactiveUS20080022012A1Maintain accuracy , security and accountabilityIncrease in sizeMultiple digital computer combinationsTransmissionClient-sideData file
In an IPTV or other network, a server terminal is interconnected with a number of client / peer terminals. For peer-to-peer file downloads, a data file having multimedia content (e.g., a television show) is split into a number of portions for distribution among the peer terminals. The size of each file portion increases according to the chronological order of the multimedia content, such that the first data file portion (containing the beginning of the content) is the smallest, and the last portion (containing the end of the content) is the largest. Having been provided with their network locations, a terminal obtains the file portions in either a sequential mode, where the file portions are obtained in correspondence to the sequential or chronological order of the multimedia content, or a random mode, where the file portions are obtained irrespective of the chronological order of the multimedia content.

Systems and methods for processing dormant virtual access devices

ActiveUS20160308995A1Improve usage and allocationMinimizing unnecessary reprovisioning attemptService provisioningAssess restrictionAuthorizationMobile device
Embodiments of the invention are directed to ceasing the renewal of a virtual access device that is dormant. Some embodiments may receive a dormancy request from an authorization server, where the dormancy request includes information identifying a virtual access device. Embodiments may determine that the virtual access device is dormant based at least on previous transactions involving the virtual access device and at least one dormancy rule. Certain embodiments may send a dormancy response to the authorization server indicating that the virtual access device is dormant. An authorization server may determine not to renew a virtual access device based at least upon the dormancy response. As such, the authorization server need not provision a mobile device with an updated virtual access device.

Channel Estimation, Scheduling, and Resource Allocation using Pilot Channel Measurements

A wireless communication system is disclosed that includes forming one or more beam patterns by a transmitter at a first time, where the beam patterns are made up of a first set of beam patterns used to transmit data during the first time, and a second set of beam patterns used to transmit data during a subsequent time. A pilot signal is transmitted on each of the beam patterns and is detectable and decodable by one or more receivers. The receivers test the quality of the beam patterns and transmit an indicator to the transmitter that relates to one of the beam patterns that has a high channel quality. The transmitter determines channel estimation, transmission scheduling, and / or resource allocation based, at least in part, on the indicator.
