The media planner may include an interactive grid of content with scheduled viewing, recording, or reminders set within a user-selectable time window. The media planner may prioritize content within the planner grid and automatically resolve conflicts when the number of available tuners within the user equipment device has been exceeded. Programs matching a user's viewing interests may also be automatically recorded in the user's absence. Coming-soon announcements may be received for programming outside the current program schedule window. Conditional media guidance application functions may be scheduled based on preliminary availability and attribute data associated with a coming-soon asset.

Method and Apparatus for Dynamically Creating and Updating Base Station Neighbor Lists

The invention includes a method and apparatus for creating a base station neighbor list for a target base station in a network comprising a plurality of base stations. A method includes obtaining signal strength measurement information associated with a set of candidate base stations, creating the base station neighbor list by selecting ones of the candidate base stations for inclusion in the base station neighbor list in a manner for substantially maximizing a number of locations in the coverage area of the target base station receiving signal coverage from at least a threshold number of selected ones of the candidate base stations, and storing the base station neighbor list. The base station neighbor list may be updated periodically, or in response to changes to signal strength measurement information. The base station neighbor list is distributed from the base station to wireless user devices served by the base station for use by the wireless user devices in making handoff decisions.

Light emitting device

A light emitting device comprises: a plurality of light emitting diodes and an insulating (low temperature co-fired ceramic) substrate with an array of recesses each for housing a respective one of the light emitting diodes. The substrate incorporates a pattern of electrical conductors that is configured for connecting the light emitting diodes in a selected electrical configuration and to provide at least two electrical connections on the floor of each recess. Light emitting diodes can be electrically connected to the electrical connections by at least one bond wire or by flip chip bonding. Each recess is filled with a transparent material to encapsulate each light emitting diode. The transparent material can incorporate at least one phosphor material such that the device emits light of a selected color and / or color temperature.

System for balance distribution of requests across multiple servers using dynamic metrics

A system for distributing incoming client requests across multiple servers in a networked client-server computer environment processes all requests as a set that occur within a given time interval and collects information on both the attributes of the requests and the resource capability of the servers to dynamically allocate the requests in a set to the appropriate servers upon the completion of the time interval. Preferably, the system includes a request table to collect at least two requests incoming within a predetermined time interval. A request examiner routine analyzes each collected request with respect to at least one attribute. A system status monitor collects resource capability information of each server in a resource table. An optimization and allocation process distributes collected requests in the request table across the multiple servers upon completion of said time interval based on an optimization of potential pairings of the requests in the request table with the servers in the resource table. The optimization and allocation process preferably analyzes metrics maintained in the request table and resource table as part of a relational database to allocate requests to servers based on a minimization of the metric distance between pairings of requests and servers. Preferably, the request table is part of a dynamic, relational database and a process of statistical inference for ascertaining expected demand patterns involving said the attributes adds predictive information about client requests as part of the request examiner routine.

Manufacture of light emitting devices with phosphor wavelength conversion

A method of manufacturing a light emitting device: an LED wafer having an array of LEDs formed on a surface thereof, the method comprises: a) fabricating a sheet of phosphor / polymer material comprising a light transmissive polymer material having at least one phosphor material distributed throughout its volume and in which the polymer material is transmissive to light generated by the LEDs and to light generated by the at least one phosphor material; b) selectively making apertures through the phosphor / polymer sheet at positions corresponding to electrode contact pads of the LEDs of the LED wafer; c) attaching the sheet of phosphor / polymer material to the surface of the LED wafer such that each aperture overlies a respective electrode contact pad; and d) dividing the wafer into individual light emitting devices. The method can further comprise, prior to dividing the LED wafer, cutting slots through the phosphor / polymer material that are configured to pass between individual LEDs.
