Graphics display system for multiple remote terminals

An efficient architecture for a virtual desktop system in a Virtual Machine Monitor (VMM) operating environment. In one embodiment, initially, a virtual desktop computer system utilizing one or more host computer systems provides one or more remote display systems with interactive graphics and video capabilities. The host computer system generally manages windows and frames that correspond to remote display systems and manages updating the remote display systems over a network connection. Preferred embodiments include a multi-display processor that is enhanced for VMM operating environments.VMM operating environments typically consist of different Virtual Machines (VMs) and a control layer known as the Virtual Machine Monitor (VMM) that manages the different VMs. Each VM is typically designed to be unaware of the existence of other VMs and the VMM is designed to provide the necessary abstraction, isolation and coordination between the different VMs to the physical platform hardware.

Reduced keyboards system using unistroke input and having automatic disambiguating and a recognition method using said system

A reduced keyboard system for text input on electronic devices, mainly for use with handheld touchscreen devices, comprising a virtual keyboard and an input device. The keyboard is preferably circular with three concentric circles. Text input is by placing the input device onto the key of the keyboard that corresponds to the first character of a word, sliding the input device to subsequent keys corresponding to subsequent characters of a word, and lifting the input device from the keyboard, producing a bi-dimensional input pattern. Keystrokes can be used instead of sliding motion in this case the input pattern is generated from the clicked keys. The system comprises a dictionary database comprising a plurality of classes containing words that have first and last letters corresponding to predetermined keys of the keyboard. The bi-dimensional input pattern produced is used to determine the identity of the inputted word at least partially based on comparison between the bi-dimensional input pattern and patterns generated from words contained within the class of the dictionary database to which the inputted word belongs. Word identification is performed using a powerful pattern recognition algorithm based on the mathematical concept of monotonicity, which is disclosed.

Electrical generator having an oscillator containing a freely moving internal element to improve generator effectiveness

An apparatus and method for providing electrical energy to an electrical device by deriving the electrical energy from motion of the device. In one embodiment, the inventive apparatus includes a novel kinetic electrical power generator (KEPG) consisting of an inventive oscillating weight having an internal cavity with a freely movable acceleration element disposed therein, resulting in improved acceleration and oscillation capabilities and lower motion threshold for the weight, a system for converting the weight's oscillating motion into rotational motion, and an electromechanical transducer system for generating electrical energy from the rotational motion. The novel KEPG includes components for modifying the electrical energy for storing and/or feeding the modified electrical energy to the electrical device. Optional components may be included for using the modified electrical energy to recharge one or more rechargeable batteries used in an electric device. Alternate advantageous embodiments of the inventive apparatus include, but are not limited to: a KEPG with multiple inventive oscillating weights to increase velocity and frequency of desirable rotational motion, and a KEPG system utilizing multiple electrically coupled KEPG sub-systems.

Apparatus and method for sensing the degree and touch strength of a human body on a sensor

An improvement in sensor for detecting contact with a human resistive element is disclosed. This design uses additional components to avoid discharging capacitors through the human resistive element, thereby sparing the user the uncomfortable sensation associated therewith and increasing the power requirements of the device. In addition, designs are utilized which multiple sensing points are multiplexed to achieve greater resolution while with a lower pin count at the signal processing chip.

Instrument for surgically cutting tissue and method of use

An instrument for precisely cutting tissue to controlled dimensions (length, width, depth, and shape) is provided for the removal of tissue specimens from remote sites in the body of a patient, such as from the gastrointestinal tract, urinary tract, or vascular structures, or any tissue surface or soft tissue of the body. The instrument has a housing and a substantially flexible shaft extending from the housing to a distal end. The distal end of the instrument has an open cavity into which tissue is receivable. Suction can be communicated along the shaft to the distal end for distribution across the cavity utilizing a manifold having a grated tissue engaging surface with opening(s) for applying the suction, thereby pulling tissue adjacent to the distal end into the cavity against the tissue engaging surface of the manifold. One or more hollow needles are extendable from the housing through the shaft into the cavity to enable infusion of fluid, such as saline or a hemostatic agent, into the tissue. A blade in the distal end is extendable through the cavity over the manifold and across the opening to cut the tissue held by suction and stabilized by the needles in the cavity. The shape and depth of the tissue removed by the cuts is in accordance with the contour of the tissue engaging surface and the size and shape of the cavity at the distal end. The tissue so removed by the instrument may be for therapeutic intervention and / or represent a tissue specimen for biopsy suitable of diagnostic evaluation. The tissue edges in the patient's body left after cutting with this instrument readily avail themselves to apposition for enhanced healing.

Golf club head with adjustable center of gravity

A golf club head comprising a channel and an expandable weight that can be removably fixed at any point within the channel is disclosed herein. The weight comprises at least an upper portion, a lower portion, and a bolt, and preferably is formed of a metal material co-molded with a polymeric material such as rubber. The channel has an opening with a width that is less than the width of both an inner part of the channel and the weight, such that the weight cannot fall out of the channel during use. The channel may also have an end that opens into a port, which can be filled with a plug or weight screw to prevent the weight from falling out of the channel, and also can be removed so that the weight can be removed and replaced with another expandable weight.
