Optical fiber distributed wireless personal area network

A Wireless Personal Area Network that provides multiple users with multi-gigabit-per-second data rate wireless connectivity and is integrated with an optical fiber distribution network is disclosed. Embodiments relate generally to an integrated fiber optic WPAN architecture that comprises multiple 57-66 GHz remotely located wireless access points interconnected with a centrally located distribution point using optical fiber links. The integrated network provides an efficient, flexible and scalable 57-66 GHz WPAN architecture since the fiber optic links accommodate the delivery of bandwidth intensive services to large numbers of users while seamlessly supporting the diversity of multi-gigabit-per-second data applications. Two approaches for the transport of the WPAN signals over the optical fiber signal distribution network are described. One technique for interconnecting the remote radio access points in the fiber distributed 57-66 GHz WPAN is via an optical fiber network which can transport the wireless signals over the fiber as ‘analog over fiber’. An alternative ‘digital over fiber’ signal transport scheme for the fiber distributed 57-66 GHz WPAN is also described which supports the transport of the multi-gigabit-per-second WPAN digital data streams over fiber.

A spinal stabilization system includes a first engagement member and a support structure. The first engagement member is adapted to be disposed between a first vertebra and a second vertebra. The engagement member generally includes a seating surface for accommodating at least a portion of a laminar region of the first vertebra. The support structure engages a portion of the second vertebra. The structural cooperation of the first engagement member and the support structure is such that the engagement member restricts reduction of the intervertebral spacing between the first and second vertebrae.

High performance neutron detector with near zero gamma cross talk

A scintillator system is provided to detect the presence of fissile material and radioactive material. One or more neutron detectors include scintillator material, and are optically coupled to one or more wavelength shifting fiber optic light guide media that extend from the scintillator material to guide light from the scintillator material to a photosensor. An electrical output of the photosensor is connected to an input of a pre-amp circuit designed to provide an optimum pulse shape for each of neutron pulses and gamma pulses in the detector signals. Scintillator material as neutron detector elements can be spatially distributed with interposed moderator material. Individual neutron detectors can be spatially distributed with interposed moderator material. Detectors and moderators can be arranged in a V-shape or a corrugated configuration.

Child safety seat, shell and harness

A child safety seat arrangement is disclosed wherein the child is secured to the safety seat by a harness. The harness is then secured with respect to the vehicle by a mounting arrangement that is independent of any seat shell. Preferably, there is also a seat shell that is itself secured with respect to the vehicle. Also disclosed is a child safety seat arrangement having a seat shell with apertures through which a harness can be passed. The harness preferably includes a main harness strap which is looped behind the seat shell, through a pair of apertures therein, to provide two shoulder straps to extend over a child's shoulders. The disclosure includes multiple pairs of apertures to allow for adjustment of the height of the shoulder straps.
