Multi-dimentional high performance liquid chromatographic separation technique (STAR7) for quantitative determinations of 7 fractions in heavy petroleum streams boiling above 550 degrees F

The present invention provides quantitation of seven classes of compounds (saturates, 1-4+ ring aromatics, sulfides, and polars) present in petroleum streams boiling from 550-1050° F. Operating the present invention in the preparative mode will allow us to load and collect multi-milligram amounts of material. In the present invention, all seven fractions are produced in a single run, whereas the most commonly used preparative liquid chromatographic separations requires two or more large scale separations to generate similar fractions. The present invention uses 100 times less solvent. The present invention protocol provides a quicker and cheaper alternative to most commonly used preparative liquid chromatographic separations and is flexible enough to target many refining and chemicals problems.

Thermoelectric power generation device

The invention relates to a thermoelectric-based power generation system designed to be clamped onto the outer wall of a steam pipe or other heating pipe. The system can include a number of assemblies mounted on the sides of a pipe. Each assembly can include a hot block, an array of thermoelectric modules, and a cold block system. The hot block can create a thermal channel to the hot plates of the modules. The cold block can include a heat pipe onto which fins are attached.

Method for the implementation of electronic components in via-holes of a multi-layer multi-chip module

The substrate (2) containing the via-hole (3) is inserted into an electrophoretic cell (1) and an electrode (6) (the “first electrode”) is placed on top of a first orifice of the via-hole(s) (3), to be implemented with electrical component(s), so that the electrode (6) totally covers the first orifice. Electrically charged either conductive and / or non-conductive particles are provided by immersing the volume of the via-hole(s) (3) in a conductive medium (17) consisting of the electrically charged particles. An electric field is created between the first electrode (6) and a second electrode (4) through the via-hole(s) (3) and the conductive medium (17) and the electrically charged particles are precipitated on the inner surface of the first electrode (6) that is directed to the second orifice of the via-hole(s) (3), until a desired portion of the volume of the via-hole(s) (3) is filled with a first layer of the charged particles having a desired thickness. More layers may be created by repeating this process using additional electophoretic cell(s), until remaining portion of the volume of the via-hole(s) (3) is filled with the additional charged particles.

A microphone, comprising at least two electrodes, spaced apart, configured to have a magnetic field within a space between the at least two electrodes; a conductive fiber, suspended between the at least two electrodes; in an air or fluid space subject to waves; wherein the conductive fiber has a radius and length such that a movement of at least a central portion of the conductive fiber approximates an oscillating movement of air or fluid surrounding the conductive fiber along an axis normal to the conductive fiber. An electrical signal is produced between two of the at least two electrodes, due to a movement of the conductive fiber within a magnetic field, due to viscous drag of the moving air or fluid surrounding the conductive fiber. The microphone may have a noise floor of less than 69 dBA using an amplifier having an input noise of 10 nV / √Hz.
